Every critic's got their top 5 list for this year. Now let's put the control to gamers. What were your top 5 games of this year and why?

My top 5:
#5: Kirby's Epic Yarn: I loved the art style of the game. It was different, and a smart move for the Nintendo Wii. It warmed my heart in a sea of shooters and brown.

#4: Dead Rising 2: Everything that I hated about Dead Rising was resolved in the sequel. The added element of creating new custom weapons was a welcome changed. Improved survivor AI made the grind to the level cap a more enjoyable experience.

#3: Red Dead Redemption/Undead Nightmare: A tie between a standalone game and its DLC?! Well both are just so damn fantastic. I've always been a fan of Rockstar's storytelling since GTA Vice City. These two games I feel are the culmination of years of experience in crafting the art of story telling. Gameplay very fun as well. Despite the wealth of random side quests I never felt overwhelmed like in GTAIV. A fine balance between gameplay and narration. Add to that one of the best zombie games since Left For Dead 2, and that's a win in my book.

#2: Starcraft II: *Fanboy alert* I've waited 12 damn long years for this game, and the wait was well worth it. The campaign was brilliant added quite a depth to the story of Jim Raynor. It makes me can't wait for Heart of the Swarm. Add to that a well balanced mutliplayer and a better ladder system it makes me glad to be a Blizzard fan.

#1 Mass Effect 2: This game was perfect enough said, but seriously what's not to like about Bioware's epic space opera. Shepard's quest to save mankind against the reapers took me through twist and turns and real tough choices (favorite mission is "A House Divided") that makes you seriously think how your choices will affect Mass Effect 3. Let's not forget a redesigned combat system that works and is pretty fun. Let's not forget the fantastic DLC that was released for the game as well. What does this mean? Well Mass Effect 2 is my pick for best game of 2010!

Halo: Reach is going to have to take the top for this one.
Second would be AC: Brotherhood, another recent release.
Then... wow, I don't play any recent games other than that, do I? I do have Super Street Fighter IV, but that's not the best of games. Hmm...

1: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Best. Metal Gear Game. Ever.

2: Vanquish
It's here was such an underdog title, but is insane fun and has some truly jaw dropping visuals.

3: Dead Rising 2
This game is great fun, its on here simply because of that. Annoying at times thanks to bosses with some crazy health bars, but fun.

4: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Great Single player and Great multiplayer.

5: Alien Vs Predator
While people will probably disagree with me, I am a fan of both franchises and it has been a long time since the last AvP game, I thought this one was great, in particular how amazing the Aliens animated and how it just felt like both franchises. It was awesome.

Probably more I forgot that were released this year. I tend to buy old games cheap more than brand new titles so I mite have confused some of their release dates too.
Other games I thought were great this year are Red Dead, F1 2010 and Heavy Rain.

Also, my worst game of the year is Halo: Reach. I was once a Halo fan, but Reach is truly terrible and mediocre at best.

#5; Enslaved; Odyssey To The West-The story and characters mostly. The gameplay you could easily look past.

#4; Star Wars The Force Unleashed II-The story and being able to be a badass jedi really made it awesome~

#3; Alan Wake-Greatly atmospheric, creepy, a great soundtrack, voice acting and story made this game much better then I hoped for.

#2; Mass Effect 2-Amazing story and characters made this RPG an instant classic. Now I can't wait to play Mass Effect 3.

#1; Assassin's Creed Brotherhood-Wow, what can I say about this? Everything about this game is fantastic. The ending is amazing and quickly sets it up for Assassin's Creed III. Oh, and Ezio is easily the best character of the year.
