Simple question really: what bands were you raised on?

For example: I was raised on Talking Heads and The Rolling Stones.

Think back to your childhood. What music do you remember hearing the most?

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was the official soundtrack to every family vacation I ever went on ever. It was awesome.

None at all, my parents didn't listen to alot of music in the house, or aroundme and as a result I don't listen to music all that much either.

Some glorious 80's classics and a big healthy dose of Led Zeppelin...

I haven't looked forward since...

My dad brainwashed me with things like the Who, Led Zepplin and Madness...

AND I LOVED IT.

I was raised on the Oldies station here in NYC (101.1 CBSFM). They played everything from Elvis to the Mamas and the Papas to the Bee Gees to Pink Floyd. My dad was a Woodstock wannabe (couldn't be a hippie in a foreign Iron Curtain country), so there was plenty of the Who, Grateful Dead, and Clearance Clearwater in the house. Along with the Beatles and the Stones. And my mom brought ABBA into the mix...as well as classical music (Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Strauss, Dvorak) and Czech folk songs.

I had a very varied but fulfilling musical upbringing.

I remember rocking out on Beethoven, Captain Jack, 2Unlimited, some weird War of the Worlds CD my dad liked to play and Ennio Morricone.

But there was never a lot of music on in our house, my parents were never musical people. So I had to discover music all by myself, which has resulted in almost schizophrenic taste for music, although classic rock and jazz have become my main genres over the years.
