I don't like achievements because it separates people's own goals with artificial and pointless ones. This leads to some terrible online play.

So, the common consensus is that achievements are good because they help lengthen the game, but online achievements are the anti-Christ?

Shut up.
I made a thread JUST LIKE THIS ONE and it got shunned by everyone. It ain't fair that an almost identical thread gets up and everyone wants to post on it.

I, sir, do not accept that

I'm sorry that i've copied your thread idea. But I highly doubt they were created in the same situation.
As stated in my first post, I was highly intoxicated and was chatting to my friend and remanissing about how we used to play games just for the fun of it and not for score ect. I apologise if any kind of similarities have annoyed you but there isn't much I can do about it tbh.

I promised myself I'd not get hooked into trophy hunting... then I did. Since I'm a PS3 owner, it frequently affects my choice of game to play, as a lot of my older games lack trophy support, and I'm always looking for more.

It also meant I wasted a lot of money on download games only to find trophies in those are absolute bastards to get. I'm looking at PixelJunk Eden and PAIN right now.

I play games to beat them. Acheivements just give me a little more incentive to play. If a game doesn't have acheivements that's perfectly fine with me.
this - i play to win, which is why, while I am crossing over to the dark side to play wow (i lost a bet) it never immediately appealed to me becuase there can be no conclusions. That being said, individual victories within the game must fill you with some gratification.
