As a kid growing up the Jak and Daxter trilogy were some of my all time favorite games. I enjoyed all of those games and I would like to know what are your opinions on the Jak and Daxter series? Did you like them?

I think that Jak II and III are easily the best games Naughty Dog ever made. Jak and Daxter and Jak X Combat Racing are good, but neither of those games could really match the gameplay and humor of 2 and 3.

The first one is a fun game nothing amazing but solid although the bonus ending you get for collecting everything is totally not worth it blink and you will miss the extra bit.

Jak 2 put me off the series entirely it was about the time every game was trying to be GTA and I hated what they did I finished it out of bloody minded perseverance (had more time back then) but I really didnt like the overworld part of it, it just felt completely pointless and was not fun to travel around then again I feel the same way about the GTA games.

Never touched Jak 3 or the karting game Naughty Dog already created the definitive Karting game in CTR anyway which I still play to this day with friends.

The first one might be my favourite 3D platformer and probably my favourite Naughty Dog game. Something about it just clicked with me. It's still a lot of fun to play to this day.

I like Jak II a lot, too. It wasn't what I wanted out of a Jak and Daxter sequel, but it was fun on its own merits. The world was surprisingly fun to explore.

Didn't like Jak 3 very much, largely because there were far too many fucking checkpoint races in the early parts of the game. I fucking hate checkpoint races in open-world games.

I loved the series, but Jak 2 was fucking impossible sometimes. Seriously I nearly broke my controller on some bits.

I'd LOVE a Jak 4 for PS4 ;__;

My memories of playing the Precursor Legacy as a small child come back to me. The world was amazing, and it was just really fun all around to play.

Jak 2 was less fun. It just didn't feel as good as the original. Of course, this might be because of the bitter taste left in my mouth when I (unaware that mirror world was turned on) got stuck (for months; hey, I was a kid) on the whack-a-metal-head mission in the bar. That mission was absolutely fucking impossible on Mirror World.

Jak 3 was absolutely godlike. It provided the same experience of Jak 2, only with more guns, more vehicles, more enemies, and just better all around, including setting and story. It didn't have quite the awesome world that Jak 1 had, but you know, post-apocalyptic events tend to make for a duller world.

And then we had Jak 4. Or so I heard it existed. Never gave it a try, mostly because Jak 3 had already cleaned everything up nicely, having a Jak 4 just seemed like milking the series.

That, and Naughty Dog, the gods that they are, were not making Jak 4. So I never really got into it. Seemed kind of cool, though, with airships and stuff.

EDIT: When I say Jak 4, I mean The Lost Frontier. Apparently there's actually a Jak 4 coming out by Naughty Dog. I might just have to buy a PS4 for that.

Loved the Jak and Daxter trilogy. Best games Naughty Dog have made, in my opinion, and a new one on PS4 is sure as shit more likely to make me buy one than fucking Uncharted is.

It's hard as dicks.

I haven't beaten Jak 2 yet (stuck on the mission with the spiders in the sewer), but I'll probably get to that after finishing college.

I really enjoy three PS2 platformers. The original was a fun, cartoony collectathon platformer. The sequel really sold out in a blatant attempt to make it appeal more to the "GTA-crowd", but it was still a fun game regardless, and Jak 3 manages to strike a good balance while bringing some really fun gameplay of its own to the table (really enjoyed the Light Jak segments). Didn't care for the PSP spinoff titles and never played that racing game.

In short, they're my favourite platforming series, just below Ratchet and Clank. I didn't grow up with Jak and Daxter (only played the games 4 years ago) but I love 'em.

Jak and Daxter is your prime textbook example of a 3D platformer and I mean that in the best possible way. While the controls weren't perfect, it did so much right. It's a wonder what no loading times can do to make the world feel large and alive (and the environments look GORGEOUS). Not much to say. It's just a pure, beautiful platformer.

Jak 2 is my favourite in the trilogy, even though I SHOULD hate it. So many lost opportunities with the story, the overworld was a pain, every time it tries to be gritty I just groan, and I feel the development lacked (especially on Jak's part). Some levels were also stupidly awkward (the underwater and chase levels near the end) or stupidly hard (fuck you Errol. I'll take my gold orb thank you) with few checkpoints. However, it's my favourite because I still feel that despite all the changes, it's the first game at heart. The game itself looks great (despite so much grey), especially with the better animation and expressions. Daxter himself is also at his best in this game, which really carried me through the experience. Lots of other fun new characters too, like Vin, Sig, and Krew (hell, even New-Jak became tolerable towards the end. His best moments in the game were when he was relaxed and joking around). Didn't mind the guns so much either, even though the blaster and vulcan fury are the only truly useful ones. Also, anyone remember that time when you first see Haven Forest or go on the top of the tower? Beautiful!

Jak 3 is a serious mixed bag and I don't know if Naughty Dog fully knew what they wanted out of it. The platforming is great...when you get to it. You need to get through about a third of the game to get your first real platforming level. Everything before that is mostly driving cars that LOVE to veer and flip over even on flat ground. 3 was also had a lot of minigames too, so I'm not too sure what to think of that. The story is a bit all over the place and unfocused (oh geeze, that was such an awkward romance. Keira was shafted this game). But I liked how they at least TRIED to make Dark Jak useful and some of Light Jak's powers were cool (slowdown and shield weren't that useful, but healing helped bring some balance and it was a shame the wings were introduced so late). Had some really good moments though, and the best plot twist ever.

Never played Jak X, and while I heard the vehicles handle better, I won't chance anything with a game that may decide to die because it feels like I've had too much progress.

Daxter I would definitely play if it was ported to PS3. I don't care how unnecessary to the overall plot it is, it looks like fun (and having more time with Daxter is never a bad thing in my book).

As for Lost Frontier...how does a game from 6 years before look and feel so much better? Yo dun' goof'd!

Jak X was actually a pretty competent racing game. It also tries to have its own story. More related to Krew and his dealings. Some of the character beats though are off but the game itself I feel is a pretty solid racing game as far as kart racing games go.

Having envied my friends rich enough to afford PS2's, and only briefly playing the Jak games while I was visiting them, I recently went back and got them on PS3.

Jak and Daxter is a beautiful, cleverly designed platformer. It has a decent level of challenge without being ridiculously difficult and it is totally possible to get all the collectible power cells without too much aimless wandering post-game. An ultimately satisfying and self-contained character platformer, the likes of which has pretty much evaporated today.

Jak II is an odd stylistic turn for the series that can become controller-throwingly frustrating due to poor checkpointing and a high degree of precision platforming. The open world was possibly more impressive at the time, but today it seems a little frivolous and time-wastey.

Jak III is the fruition of ideas that Jak II nurtured. The gun-play actually feels like it's supposed to be there, the light and dark power dichotomy makes the special powers way more interesting, the collectibles have nifty effects so there's a reason to explore the relatively huge open world. It doesn't necessarily hold up to modern standards, with a few too many arbitrary open world races and some poor handling on vehicles, but it's a good lark for the cheap price it's probably available at.

Jak and Daxter is the one to play, because action platformers don't exist like that anymore, the others are worth it for the curiosity - but a superior modern alternative would be something like Infamous.

I thought Jak and Daxter was a really great game. Played it over and over and had a blast. Then the second game came around and changed everything. For the worse. Never been able to finish the game as it was too hard and frustrating. Bad checkpoints, hard to get around due to tight areas filled with hoverships and messed up controls(stuck on a damn turrent section).
Third game was even worse. Maybe it opens up later, but from what I've played it has been almost nothing but racing. Along with being extremely boring(to me) it's also frustrating as fuck. The race on the chickens, or whatever, took me way too many hours to complete and after that I didn't have much intrest to keep playing.

Many people praise the sequels, but I would've prefered if they stuck with the more kid friendly platform game.

I loved the first one, it's one of my favorite PS2 platformers. The second's tonal shift basically ruined my enjoyment of the series. I never finished it and never played Jak 3. I did play Dexter on the PSP though, it was pretty good.

They make Uncharted now instead of Jak & Daxter. Colour me thougherly disappointed, going from teh bright cartoony world to teh very green muddy world of Uncharted. Less imaginative, more generic, uggh.

Really liked the original, back in the day I never finished Jak 2 on the PS2 out of controller snapping frustration (Downloaded the HD edition when it was free, finished it then) and Jak 3 was my all time favorite of the series.
Jak X was a bit out of left field but fun, even if I did rage quit more than once.

I grew up playing Jak II first, thinking that you didn't have to play Jak & Daxter in order to understand the story... and I'm still kinda right... Also, that game was basically my cousins and I's equivalent to wanting to play more Grand Theft Auto III back in the day...

Anyway, all three of the main Jak games were all fun in their own right, with Jak II being my personal favorite of the original trilogy... Jak X was fun, but I don't regret not owning my own copy (yet), and "no one" must speak about Lost Frontier, as far as I'm concerned...
