We have a very interesting event this year around. Eight categories and an extra custom category for a Steam game awards ceremony. We can nominate any games that we wish. So. What games did you nominate?

The ?Test of Time? Award ? Team Fortress 2 (A duh)

The ?I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye? Award ? Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut (Christ Glory...)

The ?Just 5 More Minutes? Award ? XCOM? 2 (DEATH TO ALIENS!)

The ?Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!? Award ? Hotline Miami (WHO AM I!?)

The ?Villain Most In Need Of A Hug? Award ? Undertale (...*sniff*)

The ?Game Within A Game? Award ? Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut (I really couldn't think of jack shit for this one, and that hacking minigame was kinda fun)

The ?I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award? Award ? Sunless Sea (Is and always will be awesome)

The ?Best Use Of A Farm Animal? Award ? Plague Inc: Evolved (You tell me what's a better use of a farm animal than committing the genocide of the entire human race)

The ?The "Most Spectacular Death" Award? Award ? Darkest Dungeon

So what about you? What did you nominate?

I would have picked Morrowind for most of them if I could, and I genuinely mean that.

But I gave it the Test of Time one.

Im not crying: Wolfenstein: The New Order

5 More Minutes: Terraria

Whoa Dude: Stanley Parable

Villain in need of Hug: Fallout 4, if you count him as the villain.

Game Within a Game: Please, Dont Touch Anything

Hipster Award: Psychonaughts cause I fucking bought that shit on PS2 when it was new!

Best Use of Farm Animal: Civ V, cause ya know, helping society grow. Maybe a bit too literal?

For Submit Own I made "Game Everyone Has Played": Skyrim cause why not?

"I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye": Undertale. To be oblique about why...I don't want to let go. Still pondering the others.

[li]The Test of Time Reward - Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition [sub](duh)[/sub][/li]

The fire will fade and only darkness will remain, unless, ofcourse an heir arrives. The fire fades and the lords go without their thrones.

[li]I'm not crying, there is something in my eye - Shadowrun: Dragonfall DX [/li]
Glory's storyline completely cought me off guard. A story about manipulation, revenge and and comming to terms with one's emotions. Brilliant example of dealing with the issues of LGTBQ discrimination and religious fundementalism in modern culture.

When I reached the epilog I had tears going down my cheeks.

[li]The "Just five more minutes.." Award - Rimworld[/li]

It's a Dwarf Fortress clone with dynamic difficulty and AI. Each character develops their own personality and biography as the game goes on, which ends up creating rather complex and intertwined stories. My first (sucsessful) campaign lated me about 70 hours and I suffered from sleep deprevation by the end of it.

[li]The "Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!" Award - Fallout: New Vegas[/li]

Though it's far more clunky than other games of its genre, New Vegas pefrected the gore aestetics. It didn't him me until I got all the energy weapon perks and picked up the Guass Rifle and began exploring people in a single shot. One time I shot a guy and his head launched through the stratosphere, after which I shouted "I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAA!"

[li]The Villain Most In Need Of A Hug Award - Bastion[/li]

If we were in the same situation as him, we would't act or feel any differently.

[li]The Game Within a Game award - System Shock 2[/li]

Shoutout to all those that beat Professional Golf on the handheld Gamepig.

[li]The "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award" Award - Darkest Dungeon[/li]

Got it in EA on the first day, since even then I knew it was going to be a hit. I was pleasantly correct on that one.

[li]The Best Use Of A Farm Animal Award - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim[/li]

Use your godgiven powers to bend the fabric of reality in order to scare chickens and upset cows.

[li]The "Probably was made by Aliens" Award - E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy[/li]

It's callbacks to French science fiction, reliance of occult lore, complicated mechanics and tributes to various weird fiction put EYE into a category of its own. It is as alien as it is alienating. And despite all of its flaws, its world feals real enough to touch.

It's like a nightmare that you don't want to wake up from.

Test of Time:
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Hi, if you don't know me, let me tell you I like Bloodlines. Enough to brag about it on my profile and also play it more than 50 times.

I'm not crying, there's something in my eye:
Vanishing of Ethan Carter

(spoiler-free) The development was unexpected. I really liked the game before that, but the ending was...ugh, dusty - definitely got some dust in my eyes there. Or something.

5 more minutes:
XCOM 2

The game is a strong contender for my personal game of the year, so there you go.

Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!:
Moirai

Have you played it? I suggest you do. It takes 5-10 minutes max. I minute-per-interest ratio was really high.,

Villain Most In Need Of A Hug:
Undertale

I'm sure there would be a load of those nominations. Not without some merit.

Game Within A Game:
The Beginner's Guide

Yes, I cheat slightly. Don't care - fits.

I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award:
Black Closet

I found it really an really awesome game but I don't think it has much publicity. Fits in there, I suppose. I wasn't exactly sure what to put, really.

Best Use Of A Farm Animal:
Goat Simulator

Because goats are farm animals. What better game for the award that one that simulates an actual farm animal.

My own award:
Best Socialising Game Where You Are Death:
Postmortem: One Must Die

Can you name another game that should win this? Didn't think so. Really, I just wanted to put Postmortem somewhere, so I ended up with the custom award section

I honestly don't even really know what most of them mean, but I nominated a few for "Just five more minutes" including Cities: Skylines.
Not really sure what to give other games.

"Test of Time" Award: Jets'n'Guns Gold. Yes, it's an old-school style side-scrolling space shooter. I still think it kicks ass.

"Just 5 More Minutes" Award: Road Redemption. When I start riding and beating down the competition, I don't want to stop.

"Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!" Award: Spec Ops: The Line. The mortar. You know what I'm talking about.

"I Thought This Game was Cool Before It Won an Award" Award: Sky Rogue. Too few people play air combat games, and this is a damn good one.

I'm tempted to make a "TRIGGER WARNING" Award and nominate something like Haydee or Hatred or Postal 2 for it.

Test of time
Max Payne - i still semi-regularly replay it during winter. It's like "Die Hard" of games for me. Though i'm still considering nominating Thief in its place.

I'm not crying, my eyes are just sweating
Yeah, no surprise here, i picked TWD season 1. There were other games that were able to pull my emotional strings(ie. Spec Ops The Line, Silent Hill 2), but not a degree TTGs game have done it.

5 More Minutes
Crusader Kings II. Wanted to vote on HoMMIII, but since Steam only has that weaksauce Ubisoft remake...

WHOOOA DUUUDE
Spec Ops The Line. I'm still thinking if not to nominate some more light-hearted 'woah dude' instead, like Metal Gear Rising.

Villain that needs a hug
Level7Dragon reminded me about Glory from Shadowrun:Dragonfall. She wasn't technically a villain, but eh, the main bad gal was kind of a tragic character too.

Game within a game
San Andreas. Still the most fun i had in a dredded open-world sandbox, probably.

Hipster Award
Grim Fandango? Cause it's a remaster of an older game that got its deserved recognition again? IDK, i rarely buy new games on a whim. I'll probly change that nominee.

Best use of a farm animal
Worms Armageddon, for the donkey and the sheep.

The only game I have which I feel strongly enough about to nominate for anything is Stardew Valley for the Five More Minutes Award. That game has it's claws in me deep.

It's the gimmick of the new sale: you can nominate games in several award categories [http://store.steampowered.com/SteamAwardNominations/]. The categories are somewhat vague and there isn't even a limit on what you nominate - you can nominate ANY game on Steam, doesn't even have to be in your library. You can even make up your own category for a game. The only limits are - one game per category and you can't nominate a game for two categories.

Presumably there would be some sort of awards at the end of the sale or something. Not sure what that would be or if it would even matter (my guess is: not). There is some promise that the awards will be a regular thing. For what that exactly means, your guess is as good as mine.

Could just be a fun little community event. I like that its not trying to extort us, like the Summer Sale's event where you got cards that disappeared when it was over! I made sure to use all my cards before it ended and sell the rest, but not everyone was so aware, Im sure.

Test of time - Killing Floor 2 (574 hours in KF1 & 2 and counting)

I'm not crying - Life Is Strange (easily the most emotional writing I've ever seen in a game, although I would also be satisfied if Walking Dead season 1 wins)

Just 5 more minutes - Xcom (Definately has that "just 1 more turn feeling")

Whoa dude - Banner Saga 2 (Amazing story and combat system, one of my favourite games of 2016)

Villain most in need of a hug - Tales From The Borderlands (Handsome Jack tries so hard to be evil but he can't quite pull it off, ends up being a comedy sidekick)

Game within a game - Witcher 3 (because Gwent is awesome. I honestly don't even think any other game has a chance to win this)

I thought this game was cool - Oxenfree (only 2,000 steam reviews suggests its still under the radar. I considered nominating This War of Mine because its my favourite indie game, but I think it has alot more recognition already)

Best use of a farm animinal - Ultimate Chicken Horse (NorthernLion's Youtube series is hilarious)

We didn't think of everything - "Outstanding voice acting" - Rise of the Tomb Raider (because I think voice actors should get more recognition, and Camilla Luddington is awesome)
