What do consider to be acceptable pricing for DLC?

Now for some of you this is entirely down to how much you enjoy the game and want the DLC (despite how much cash you may have), but for others there is a sweet spot that would make us buy any DLC for a game we own and there is a point where we would rather not spend that much.

So what do you consider to be too expensive or perfect for DLC? And are there games you would be willing to spend more for DLC?

For me CoD's pricing for DLC is alarming, as much as I love the game and all, I can't bring myself to pay that much for extras when a new game has been or likely WILL be announced in the series, I can't trade in that content nor can I sell it or give it away to another gamer, just thinking of the several games I could buy with that cash is a big no no. For something that is only as useful for one game, I'm turned off by it, but Homefront maps, Killzone maps etc were peach perfect price points for me. But I understand that for some people its fine once they are getting what they want which is okay by me as long as I don't get forced into doing the same by being restricted from playing with my friends all-together, all that does is deter me on to other games.

For me DLC would be 5 Euros at most. Because the way i see it if, for example, each DLC for black ops is 15 Euros and there are three so far then i would have paid the 50-60 euros on the game then with the three map packs ,which is a total of 45 euros, that becomes about 100 Euros spent on one game. I could have a bunch of indie games with that money. Well that's the way i see it.

So 5 euros would seem to be the perfect price for me.

depends. if its full massive add-on like general knoxx's armory for borderlands, then i find 10$ perfectly acceptable. for smaller add ons like new outfits, or only one or two additional quests then i think the price should very. maybe 5 dollars or so.

$10 dollars if it is a big, new open world.

No way i'm paying $15 dollars for 5 maps. That's outrageous.

Depends on what it is and how much one likes the game. For little skin packs and weapons, I think 1-5 dollars is nice, and for new content, 10 - 20 is reasonable. I think it all comes down to how much you like the game, and are willing to spend on it. If you really love the game, then 15 bucks isn't a big deal. If you don't care for the game, then odds say you wouldn't even bother with the DLC even if it was 5 dollars.

On that note, I think the COD DLC is priced quite reasonably. If you like COD enough, then you will easily get more than enough entertainment to justify the map pack. Just because you don't like COD doesn't mean someone else doesn't think the maps aren't worth it. I am more than willing to bet that you'd happily fork over 15 bucks for some DLC of a game you were very fond of. That's what DLC pricing ultimately comes down to: how much people like the game.

From what I gather, the average piece of DLC is about £6. That's pretty good value for money in my book.

Free. seriously, its like we paid for a half baked game having to pay for DLC.

I'm cool with how it is now, even with project-10-dollar. Problem is that from my experience, much DLC is pretty bad, compared to the normal game, so I generally avoid them.

Less than a dollar for extra ingame items.

Under 10 dollars for expansions (as in heavy extra content like you'd buy on a separate disc 10 years ago, not a single extra map.

Not free, that's called a patch.

Judging by my psn account I won't pay more than $6 for anything at all.

If it's costumes and crap like that I won't spend more than $1.

I miss expansions, anyone remember expansions?

I baught only one piece DLC, General Knoxx for Borderlands. For as much that there was in Knoxx, I felt $10 was perfect.

COD's DLC is a farce. Content like that should be less than $10, and even thats pushing it.

5-10 dollars at the most. Though map packs that add very little and just divide a player base 1-3 dollars.

We get it people, you don't like paying 15 for maps.
For me, it depends, I'll probably pay around 5-10, but if it's for a game that I get a lot of playtime for, for example, Call of Duty, I'll pay 15.

free for the first week or two then you have to pay, so people who pick it up while its expensive you get free DLC and if you get it old and cheap you have to pay. thank you splash damage.

$1 per hour taken to complete on normal difficulty.

For any type of add on content, not just DLC.

Obviously cosmetic stuff works out differently, but it's very rare I ever buy that. I think the only game I could even say I bought anything close to that for was Disgaea 3, bought the dlc characters and whatnot.

Let's put it this way: An aquaintance online convinced me to pay for the DLC for Resident Evil 5. She was not worth it. It was not worth it.
