What Do You Do When You Can't Game?

The internet is down, the power is out, your not near your console, or some other reason and you can't game... period. So, what do you do instead?

I usually just wander around aimlessly going from reading a book to watching reruns until I can get back on my computer.

I game, either on my handheld, or if that´s out too I play some Magic or PnP games.

I read a book normally, or go to sleep.

Then there is curl up into a ball and lie on my bed and wait until it call comes back.

I actually had this situation when my family moved house a couple of years ago and it took Sky five months to get us connected to the internet. I still had my computer and many of the games that I didn't need to connect to the internet to play (aka the few I'd bought before I started using steam).

But it was still hellish, my mum eventually buckled (As she needed the net to do course work as she was doing her teacher training at the time) and we picked up a "3" mobile internet stick.

They are actually quite good I must say, even on pay as you go.

I weep. Mostly because I live in a place where there is nothing to do and more often than not not enough natural light to read by.

I read books, plan my next roleplaying session, play music and sing, paint warhammer figures or draw something, there are plenty of stuff to do, gaming isn't my only hobby, just the most time consuming one.

I go run 10 or so kms, then rest for half an hour. Rinse and repeat until power returns.

In a powercut my family tend to play board games! Its pretty good actually, its quite enjoyable! And we find that we carry on playing when the power is back on!!

If I am at work i'll just find some guys and hang out! Grab a couple of beers and sit and chin-wag!

If the powers out I will read a book. Another thing that keeps me entertained is going upstairs and acting out the stories for a novel I'm writing and the universe I've imagined for it.

If I still have power then a combination of Youtube, Escapist, I Can Haz Cheezburger Network, and Equestria Daily.
Also Television.
