I think the thing that i really hate is that a lot of new games focus on multiplayer and coop modes instead of the main solo gameplay and that a lot of games are exclusive for some consoles or pc including DLC and patches

The only complaint I have is when games try to be realistic when it obviously is forced and doesn't work properly and makes the game terrible *stares at GTAIV*

I hate that they, in general, have less enemy diversity than old games as it is much harder to make fully animated 3D models than some sprites. Not a big problem, it's just that I'm one those weird people that like having a bunch of different monsters to fight, even when they are just moving letters (see Dwarf Fortress. You just need to use you imagination!).

Most new games have you fight the same 5 goons over and over again. That's not to say old games didn't recycle enemies. It's just that it was easier for them to make a larger pool of enemies to recycle.

I dun play new games anymore it seems...

I've foudn that i'm playing games with at least 3 years on them.

Help?

On topic: The attitude, I want a nice, good game were we can loose with dignity and say "GG" at the end, not some spamfest of insults and names like "lEEt CoMplEX"

Also, Single Player's need to be improved.

When I go to play old games, I normally find their is so much that is better now. New games are better, I just wanted to get that out of the way before I fire off a couple of things I dislike.

First off, I miss four player splitscreen. It was always fun having a few mates around just hang out and play the occasional game but now it's either pass a controller around or have seperate tvs etc which isn't at all appealing.

Games also seem easier, I don't know whether i'm just older/better than I was but I do feel I'm not as challenged by a game now. Then again, sometimes games that are too hard just arn't fun at all. I remember trying to complete world at war and though I got quite far, the fact I took two spaces and get grenaded or took all the fire from every japenese soldier while all the AI just sat around got to hatred levels.

Their's more but they are just getting to knitpicking levels.

Oh let me see. Most games have no replay value at all and DLC can sometimes be a pain in the ass if its map packs.

The only thing that got me recently was Lost Planet being co-op orientated but the servers being an absololute pain in that ass to get working.

realism, too easy, and not enough focus on solo gameplay. Those are like 90% of the gaming complaints that i have ever had.

I hate that multiplayer has become a primary focus and single player isn't concentrated on so much.

Modern Warfare 2 (just to use an overused example for emphasis). 5 hour campaign. That's shorter than a lot of expansions I've played. That's not right one bit.

I'm also sick of gritty grey environments these days. How about something bright and colourful hmm? Instead of stuff that looks fucking horrible like Gears of War.

Also how about when doing all these new "innovations", actually innovating?

The Wii remote for example. I've yet to see it used for much more than a few good games, then the other 95% of the games library either don't implement it, or are casual mini games the quality of which you would find on a flash based website for free.

Oh DRM. That can fuck off! When PS3 had that glitch stopping it from connecting to PSN, all of my downloaded games I had paid real money for were unplayable. I say once you buy a game, and you have a working console, then it should be playable. No questions asked.

Paid DLC can fuck off too. I'm not talking decent DLC such as the Fallout 3 expansions. I'm talking about charging for stuff like little big planet costumes, or call of duty map packs. £11 for 5 maps, 2 of which are ports of maps from an old game? Go fuck yourselves! Or even worse, content that is already featured within the disc. Any content physically stored on the storage media provided to you when you buy a game should be available to you for free. That's not opinion, that's fact, from someone who doesn't bend over and take corporate bullshit.

Oh how about perhaps a few more games these days that don't have an emphasis on shooting or hack and slash? What the fuck happened to good platformers? or good JRPGs?

The prospect of multiplayer where it doesn't really feel necessary.

I'm all for more of Assassin's Creed, but really, multiplayer? In Assassin's Creed? Yeh, I'm not convinced.

Those games you're after released with Collectors Editions that are just too special to pass up, regardless of the dent on your savings. Looking at you, Bioshock 2....:)

Day One DLC that you have to pay for. I may have eventually fallen for those Wardens Keep shenanigans, so I'm glad they didn't pull the same trick in Mass Effect 2. Fool me once....

Also, what, for the most part, passes for online FPS action these days. Sure kids, you may be safe there in your Modern Warfare 2 with your three shots to kill an opponent and cheap RPG/thumper shots, but dust off an old copy of Quake 3 Arena or Unreal Tournament and I'll bet you'll soon run out of places to hide. Don't even know they're born...

Hmm, I think I have to go with the trend of games having too many cutscenes.

It's not like I want to pay 40-65 dollars to play a movie.

um, following the apparant trend, the realism. can i carry more guns then i have limbs? for the love of god, when im playing a highly trained military operative in the middle of a war hellzone with only the slightest chance of getting out alive, i would expect to be carrying at least 4 weapons, just to be on the safe side. also, dust is not fun to look at. in modern warfare, the dust is everywhere, even when you think its not. afghan, all dust. highrise, dust clouds, wasteland, the trees and bushes dont help, even that one map i cant remember the name of has 1 random spot of dust. those infinity ward have a dirt fetish, and if so then stop adding it to games cause everyones copying it. also, the fps influence. dead space wouldve been better if i wasnt lugging around 4 (yes 4, modern warfail) hugely overpowered weapons that made the game an excersize in aiming at spastic targets. lastly, the focus on online (of course.) its largely because before, when people had to come to each others houses for a good time, they had to be polite and socialize like semi intelligent homo sapiens. now, we got 5 year old pricks whos parents buy them M games, and then they spend nearly every hour exploiting the balance issues, swearing every other word, and bragging about their hyper exaggerated non exsistant sex life. parents, i blame you by the way.

I could say that I don't like how many games there are where the story is boring and generic and the music is boring and generic and nothing ever goes anywhere more than mediocre, but I'm not sure I'm speaking from experience with this.

One thing I definitely don't like is boring character designs. Give a person a beard or short hair (or both) if they're manly, give a person long (or longer than usual) hair if they're either depressing or capable of much thought. Looking through the characters page on the Xenoblade website is disappointing, probably even if you haven't played Xenogears or Xenosaga. Also, when there's any more than a little attention on the character design, it's usually mainly on the clothes. Interesting hair and non-generic faces are possible!

I'm tired of every game being a reskin of every other. God dammit, make something original. I don't care if its good, just give me something NEW.
