I love Christmas. Well, everything except celebrating it and buying presents. The best comparison to it that I have is Team Fortress (Hey, it's a gaming website, so what better way to make a comparison, then with a video game). I love the "Meet the ----" videos, I love the heavy/medic jokes, the Scout's "bonk" jokes, the spy sappin' the sentry and all the garys mod videos...but I hate playing Team Fortress 2. I really don't like playing it.

It's the same with Christmas. I love the feeling it gives people. It's a jolly feeling and most people are happy, and it gives me a reason to listen to Frank Sinatra's version of "Jingle Bells" on repeat. But despite all of this, I really don't like celebrating it with my family. We have to eat the same old Christmas food, watch Donald Duck at 15:00, open the presents with the family etc. My family is too traditional when it comes to Christmas, so I really don't enjoy celebrating it.

So what do you think of Christmas? Do you hate all of it, love all of it? Perhaps you're a bit neutral and just don't care about celebrating it, but if you have to, you don't mind.

Love it! It's great! Even as I get older and older, I still enjoy it (almost) as much as I did as a tiny child.

Everything I don't like about it, how it starts before Halloween and how horribly commercialized it is, is canceled out by how it brings everybody together. Me loving to give gifts is probably a big part of this, but I don't care, I love Christmas.

I think that it gives me two weeks off of school and lots of presents.

If it was a person I'd hug it.

I love Christmas... I do enjoy celebrating Xmas with my family... And by celebrate, I mean me sitting in the corner with some head phones on and playing Hisoutensoku on my laptop while I ignore everyone else...

One thing I really hate though is opening gifts in front of everyone... I'm always bound to get something terrible and have to thank the person for a worthless gift...

I rather dislike this time of year for reasons that I'll not get into.

I look forward to Christmas as the day everyone in my family pays me for being awesome. I hate just about everything else about it, though, i.e., the rampant commercialism, hearing the same 10 or 12 Christmas songs in every store from November through December, the absurd idea that it's somehow Jesus's birthday, Christianity in general, political correctness (holiday trees wtf?), lying to little kids, the Christmas specials playing constantly on TV, having to spend time with my family, and so forth. But hey, I rake in at least $500 to blow on whatever I feel like, so it's a net gain.

I dislike that it lasts 2 months and is shoved down your throat weather you like it or not the whole time. I think it should be 2 weeks MAX and even then it should be possible to listen to the radio without hearing another poorly done jingle bell rock.

My family tend to hold our celebrating until new years.

But we love the decorations. Makes everything look pretty especially the more "richer" areas.

I don't really care about it ,just another holiday which demands that you spend lots of money. Ill probably be too lazy to set up a christmas tree this year.

Good food, a time to relax, a huge, beautiful tree, people actually giving to the charities that come by at intersections instead of swearing at them, twinkling lights, snow...

So many things to love about it. I don't really care about the presents, 'cause it stresses my mother.
It just feels like things are gonna be okay.

We dress up the house and get a Christmas to keep my overly religious mother happy. Other than that though, its just a second thanksgiving of sorts except with more colorful decorations.

Presents are given at new years which everyone in my family agrees is a way more important event.

Booze. Presents. Did I mention the booze? It's an excuse, and I'll take that excuse happily!

Well, I love Christmas. I just hate how commercialized and money orientated it is. I love going home and seeing family, playing board games around the fire and having hot drinks. The food, the family, the experience.

But these days people act like it's the end of the world if they don't get $500 worth of presents. It's just dumb. Give me a book, a new pair of pj's and a nice big new mug for coffee and I'm happy.

Lord, how I hate that. Especially when it's 7 in the morning and I'm' still half asleep. Even if it's something I do want I still worry about looking sincerely happy; I tend to not show my emotions much.

Besides that though, I really quite like Christmas. I still prefer Christmas Eve though.

It could disappear and I'd be just as happy. The kind of shallow materialism that is so engrained in modern Christmas makes me feel sick at times. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I'm free from material desires, try as I might I haven't reached enlightenment yet.

So, let's be blunt here, we can look on Christmas as adults, with understanding and some self restraint, but I remember when I was a kid what Christmas meant: presents. Oh sure, there was other stuff, but I was excited about the presents, and I can't imagine I was the only one. I honestly feel like having a holiday where kids are encouraged in just about every way possible to want material things is damaging. It adds to the greed and general shallowness that has become so common these days. How about a holiday where kids are encouraged to try to be happy with all the shit they already have that could be sold to feed a starving family in some third world country for a year?

And the fact that the kids get so riled up about what they're going to get just makes their parent's insane too. I always think about those black friday stampedes that people have actually died in. What a sick fucking piece of our culture. And as the parent's get more insane trying to get their spoiled little kids what they want it spreads through the rest of society.

So yes, call me Scrooge, but I'd be more than happy to see Christmas disappear.
