Since the game has been out for about a week now I want to know what are your opinions on this game? Is it good, how different is it from Galactic Civilizations II?

I've been playing it pretty heavily the last few days and I gotta say that it is really good so far. While the visuals and the interface haven't changed much since Gal Civ II I think the few tweaks have been pretty good.

I like the resource system where you have to build starbases to mine different materials that can be used to build some ship parts or planetary buildings, and I like that the ideology system can be easily mixed and matched together instead of being all evil, all good, or all neutral.

That being said there are a few things that bug me. I miss some of the other races that were in the older game (except the Korath, they can rot in whatever hell-pit the Drengin stuck them in with their stupid spore ships). Also the tech tree kind of bugs me; it just isn't quite as fluid and convenient as it used to be and there seems to be fewer race-specific techs than before (mind you I've only fully completed one game as the Iconians and have played a fair bit as the Krynn so the others might be way different). And you get less customization when you start a new game as well, no picking your party, no picking individual perks, and no mix/matching different race's ship visuals (not that I ever bothered doing that anyways, but still).

But other than all that it really is almost the exact same game with a new coat of paint and an updated interface which, in all honesty, is all I really could have wanted.
