I'm very bored with my PS3 and my Xbox 360. The graphics could be better on most of my games on my Xbox 360 and PS3. The interfaces for both consoles could be better and more interesting to use/watch since it's all columns and rows for their interfaces. Customization could be a bit more in depth for the user, especially on the PS3 the internet could be better even if it is free, another thing about both consoles is that I can't use them to browse the internet without insane lag and not being able to use online computer games on them, Xbox 360 consoles tend to be a bit bulky and take up a bit much room, and overall, both consoles feel... out of date. So in the next console generation of the two, what do you want improved/added?

No doubt graphics can (and will) be improved. I just want improved loading times, etc. you know, things that will prevent me from switching to PC gaming.

Built-in eye-scanner which will lock kids out of age restricted games until their 18th birthday for example.

Investment in more smaller more niche games alongside the big $60 releases. That and maybe using that extra tech to improve things like AI, graphics can stay where they are and I won't complain. I have a PC if I need to feed a craving for uberl33t grafx.

I want them to make the PS3 cheaper so I can finally get one without paying 250 Euros for a machine that has one fourth of the power my PC has. I only spent 500 on my PC. Come on Sony. You trying to rip me off? Then fuck off.

And thats about it, really. I guess I want them to be powerful so the medium doesnt stagnate even further, but meh. I love PC gaming, I only look forward to the new consoles because it will bring some innovation. Plus I can then buy a PS3 cheap and experience all those exclusives I missed out on without emptying a fucking swiss bank account to buy a machine with no RAM. I could rant about that all day.
Agreeably the PS3 isn't nearly as powerful as a PC but most consoles aren't. Sony really screwed the pooch on RAM when the console was first released. $600 for 60GB!? That's just depressing.

chances are slim to none that will be a reality.

I want:
1.) Solid game support for genres I enjoy (seems obvious but this and pt #2 are what killed the Wii for me)
2a.) Motion control to, at most, be a totally optional gimmick
2b.) A really nice controller out of the box, preferably with 6 face buttons (unlikely to be sure, but I can always hope someone remembers the awesomeness of the Saturn controller)
3.) A fast disk drive, even if it means not being the absolute top of the line tech
4.) Enough power under the hood to keep the system relevant for years to come
5.) Digital distribution to be totally viable but completely optional

And that's really about it. In essence, I just want a beefier Xbox 360 but with slightly more varied game support and a controller that doesn't have a crap dpad. I'm a console gamer nearly through and through so I don't have many issues at all with the current generation even if I am slighly eager to see what the next gen looks like.

That's pretty much it, right there....call me lazy, but I'm tired of having to change the games out. Ever since we had our little one, I'm just as likely to turn the damn thing off and take a nap as I am to get off the sofa and swap disks.

Even an optional disc changer would be an improvement, just seems like something that's long overdue.

1) Being able to take in-game screenshots and edit them (or at least convert them to files that can be viewed/edited on a computer).
2) Being able to listen to our own music in any game
3) Being able to view pictures, browse the internet etc. without leaving the game. This could be useful if you were to say, look at a GameFAQ's walkthrough for a game, and then follow said walkthrough without having to hop back and forth between your computer and your game console.
4) Motion controls that are both optional and well-implemented. None of that "instead of pressing a button to swing a sword, you have to swing the remote and then wait a second for your character to swing a sword." crap. Basically, I want more games like Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, where it was pretty much point and shoot combined with the functionality of a normal controller. Yeah, there was a bit of waggling involved, but it was pretty much only used for the occasional QTE.

This too. As nice as it is to look at shelves stacked with physical game cases, those cases eventually accumulate and cause me to run out of room. I'd like to be able to have all of the games I've ever bought stored on one account that I can keep forever.

I agree. Give me this, or I'm not buying them. It would be too much hassle to constantly switch hookups and systems just to play an old game.
And while we're at it, I want my trophies and achievements to transfer over too.

I think the PS3 dropped to $200 here. Don't know how much that is in Euros. And you can only just go online and find a cheap used/refurbished system.

But honestly, I think it's worth it, especially for the exclusives. Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone, Journey, and inFamous and all the other exclusives are all easily worth the price of admission in my opinion.

Hardware that will stand the test of time. These next gen systems are going to soldier on for a number of years with the hardware specs locked in at birth. These next gen systems need to pack some serious horsepower under the hood. Like it or not, the consoles are the volume sellers and multi-platform releases will be developed with the consoles in mind. I don't want to see a similar situation to the one we have now in 7 years where the PC games are handicapped by old console hardware. First and foremost, they need to get some good GPUs, CPUs and a boat load of memory into these next gen things.

Hardware tessellation would be a nice addition to the next gen consoles provided Sony and Microsoft could settle on some sort of tessellation standard. The ability of the next gen systems to generate additional polygons could potentially streamline the game development process. Native mouse support and native 1600 X 2500 resolution would also be nice.

More RAM.
A keyboard and Mouse.

Without those I wouldn't consider getting either of them for a second.
