What does Amazon count as "New Condition?"

I was thinking of getting my mom an Amazon Fire TV Stick for her birthday, and I read that their return policy when it comes to Amazon-branded goods says "30 days of receiving the shipment, and it's in new condition."

What does that specifically mean? Does it have to be unopened?, or just as new as it can be when unboxed? (i.e., not used that much).

To the best of my knowledge, new is new. As in, a new product that is unopened.

So I can't return it if we try it, and my mom thinks it's a waste of money?, what the hell?

They have a phone number for something called Amazon Pop-Up (which sells Amazon branded products).

Since that Firestick thing is an Amazon product, you could probably just give it a jingle and ask them.
