You know as I play through games I can not help ask why do I make "my charter as I do?" needless to say this only applies to custom avatars like say Saints Row 3&4 or The Elder Scrolls Merowind-At least skyrim. But still I have to think there are at least 3 modes. 1 you... as close to you as possible. 2) Idolized: how you feel not necessarily in a negative connotation but hey if you want to look like Brad Pitt you may as well. 3) Fantasy: race, gender, limbs, species NONE OF IT MATTERS! This is me anyway I conceive. You may look as you are you may be an entire universe there are no rules.

Now if I had to pick I would be 2.5 ish A werewolf able to be simply myself or a far more assertive and animistic yet still in control werewolf form. Nay other want to share?

Well I have though about this and I have several modes of thought all of which best pertain to video games save the first... kinda. So from normal to odd here goes. 1) Life/ The Sims, This acts and looks like you absolutely as you would in today's world it for all intent and purposes IS you. 2) Fallout. While still human and still on earth said earth is much like Fallout New Vegas with your memories. Yes You play as "you" and on "Earth" but not you as you know it nor on Earth as you knew it. This perhaps is your true subconscious self that may be depressing like Elvis or Daft Punk but in the end still you. 3) Narrow fantasy: Think Elder scrolls want to be a khajiit mage? Boom! You are! yes it may fit one fantasy but not all as none can but still khajiit mage that lives in skyrim? Acceptable! Just have a back story. 4: Utter fantasy. Make your world, those rules apply. It is whatever you mean it to be. lastly 3.5: Crossover Obeys laws of 2 or more non-conflicting worlds keeping the less "liberal" view of both. 5) total fantasy: Your will is its command it YOUR universe!

Frankly I have 1) Me I like me... he can stay. 2 Fallout Me. KILL SLAVERS! ALSO I HAVE NO MODESTY! And 5 35%humanto 35%anthropomorphic jackal 20% Charr 10% worgan (Warcarft). Alchemist, Abolitionist and anti monarch that is a blade for hire as long as he approves.

Still with the categories you give... It depends is it Earth and if it is not earth can I be a beast or undead "race" if it is earth I am between 1 and 2 as I think in a world of chaos and no work week I would be the me of fantasy if the world became Fallout. If it is defiantly not Earth and I can be a beast race or undead, well I am a beast or undead. Still regardless Chaotic Good in all cases.

To me it's pretty much 1 well close to it. I tend to make the custom character look like me well within the ethnic apperance (Asian apperence).

Since I haven't fully played a deep character customization like Saint Row (well ok Mass Effect count but I got used to seeing the standard Shepard face to the point I don't see him as my character in the game but as the official game character itself), I stick with the typical facial apperence they have like a young handsome face and nice looking hairtyle that doesn't match my in real life.

Granted I have no idea if I would choose to make a character that look identical to me (too realisty?). My reason for this play style is simply because I like to be immerse as if I was in the game per say.

I'm a 3 all the way. I create a character I like rather than who I am and a lot of it depends on the game I'm playing and how much freedom I have. My favorite character in Skyrim was a Kahjit who was a sneaky assassin, like a cat. In GW2 since you could pick a back story I made a pretty boy from a rich family who liked playing with dead things (aka necromancer) and wanted to join the circus. It varies greatly depending on what I'm playing.

I don't know what that says about me from an outside view, but I don't like playing as myself. I prefer fun fantastical things over mundane (aka me).

Depends on what game I'm playing. I usually just make myself look as cool as possible while playing games like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Dragon Age. So probably two or three. I tend to have all of my characters have long hair and awesome beards, which I will never be able to pull off so number two for that one. But occasionally, I just want to be a fucking cat and claw people to death with my bare hands.
