First off welcome to The Escapist.

Unfortunately you might have to check ebay but I wont hold my breath.

Maybe you can find emulators of ps1 games much like the games on N64 and Gameboy.

People are collecting them. And refusing to sell? Usually the case with popular old games.

How about very few people want to play those games any more. Besides that they are old and look crappy, and don't have that good of gameplay either.

No, they all crumbled to dust.

That is what my friend did recently. He is playing MGS on PC thanks to emulators. He even got a controller to make it work better. He found emulators for gameboy, gameboy advance, N64, PS1, PS2, and Gamecube.

I recently saw a sega mega drive for sale in game, as in a brand new one. At first I thought there was some sega megadrive re-release or something but it must of just been two old ones they found in the back or something. When ever I buy old games I tend to find them in bargain bins in game shops or just in game station the one over here in Nottingham has a whole floor just for past gen games.

I like how one of the first responses are "well you know, just steal it instead".

Sometimes I think I am the only person who pays game companies for their work.
So you send money to the companies when you can't find the damn game but still want to play it?
Do you also send money to the company when you buy it from someone else?

If you don't do those things, then you're stealing the game as much as someone who downloads a Playstation ISO

If you know where there are PS1 games for sale, you should let him know then. Bashing someone for stating a viable option isn't very constructive.

Ebay
Okay, but what if they aren't available there? The next logical thing to do, IMO, is to download the game until you can find one to buy. I am all for supporting companies/people who make good products, but sometimes it's just not feasible with something that has been outdated for 10 years. It's like stealing a betamax tape..no one will care.

I would go so far as to say EVERY game is available on Ebay. You just need to be ready to pay $150.00+ for it.
But that isn't going to the company who made the game. It's going into the pocket of some random person who feels obligated to rip others off. I say if you feel guilty about downloading a game that is old enough to be out of print, then you can send the company $20 in the mail. I'm sure they would grant someone the rights to play the game legally.

Though I still say child pornography should be legal.
Perhaps you should keep that to yourself? Seems warrant to some rather nasty brandings.

Anyways, sounds like you're in a bad area for it. I am close to a local game store that has a pretty nice collection of games going back to the SNES. Good luck searching. Buying games online is costly, and something I personally wouldn't suggest. You have no clue what type of condition it will be in, if it is legitimate, or numerous other factors.
