Plenty of gaming franchises dissapear, other go into hibanation. Here's a thread were we can all wonder were they went.

Firstly what ever happened to Timesplitters? I never played the first, but loved the second and third for there silly, arcade style shooting which was above all else, fun with plenty of parody and a few laughs. There was even a breif bit of a concept logo, but i've heard nothing from this group for ages. Is it still alive, or are they focusing on other projects?

Secondly - Rouge squadron. Again a very good N64/gamecube classic (for me atleast.) I don't like many Star Wars games but this was a good exception for me, and from memory it was well liked by critics and anything with Star Wars on it as a title tends to sell. Also rember its awesome multiplayer/co-op decision to make the entire second game as a co-op option for the third game.

Thirdly - Wouldn't be a missing game thread without Half Life 2 Episode 3. No more needs to be said.

Anybody now what happend to these, or any orther games that for wierd reasons have just dissapeared?

guess company's think that they would not sell in the current market.

Rouge squadron's sales went down over time and we don't need a new thread about HL2ep3

Rouge Squadron?

I never felt there was a market for Star Wars make-up simulators

Sequel is currently "under consideration" at Crytek (where most of the original developers went)

Doesn't mean much, but at least something.

As for me:

What happened to that Mechwarrior Sequel/Remake/Reboot Thing that had this awesome trailer? Has it been canceled?

And how long till we'll see the return of a great space combat game? (One that doesn't follow the X/Freelancer/EVE formular. I want great setpieces and fun combat like Colony Wars and Freespace delivered. Not spending hours on repetitive Sub-Missions and pseudo-mining so i can buy more missiles)

What happened to StarFox? The only game on the horizon for them seems to be a remake of their last truly great game, 64.

What happened to Veiwtiful Joe? I'm sure Capcom would love to try and bring him back. He was awesome! Shame what happened to Clover, but he might get another chance one day. At least I hope so.

I would say "what ever happened to Bomberman?", but I know what happened. Act Zero happened. The second worst attempt to bring a franchise into the new generation (first being Sonic 06), and the absolute worst attempt to make a character "hardcore" ever.

What the hell happened to WhoopeeCamp?

They created Tomba, which still remains one of my favorites

Star Wars Republic Commando never got a sequel and that was an awesome game and Lucasarts hasn't made a decent game for ages now.

Tomba is one of the finest games ever made, it genuinely is.

I'm wondering what happened to dino crisis personally
i know capcom has had a lot of shit on in recent years
but surely a new one is necessary?

the first one was brilliant, maybe could even be described as a very decent survival horror. your ammo was very limited, dinosaurs were always reasonably hard to kill and they appeared occasionally enough for there to be genuine suprise if one showed up

The second was as good as sequels get, they'd done the survival horror, now it was time to get the satisfyingly overpowered big guns out and blow dinosaurs away on a constant ripple of fun right to the end of the game

then they just stopped (NO THEY DID NOT MAKE A THIRD GAME, YOU DREAMT THAT. DIDN'T HAPPEN. HONEST)

i feel a current generation installment of the series would be weel received (by me)

What happened to Conker? Conker's Bad Fur Day was absolutely amazing, and yet Rare has pretty much done nothing with him since then.

What ever happened to good Final Fantasy games. Not really a sequal but a continuation of the series I would like a Final Fantasy that is not an online game (FF11&14), not a Return of the Jedi clone (FF12) and a game that is not shit in almost every single way (FFX-2,FF13,FF13-2). If you are wondering how I kniw FF13-2 will be shit I can see the future. And the guy in charge of the project has only made 2 other FF games. And they would be X-2 and 13. I just do not see why they are make 13-2 when they could be using their time to finish FF verses 13 that acturaly looks good.

Sigh....I wonder about mechwarrior as well. Then again, Smith and Tinker are just the battered remains of FASA that microsoft left fledgling in the dirt; expecting too much will only lead to disappointment. All we can do is hope it's still breathing.

What happened to Oni? It got decent reviews, it was a fun game, and yet they didn't make any sequel or anything!

What happened to The Lost Vikings?

Sure, Blizzard has been enormously successful in other game genre's, but this classic deserves more attention too.
