Counter Strike and Day of Defeat
their normal and source counterparts

I've been playing both since before either went GOLD in the original and have continued now that they have begun to fall back into obscurity. it's a strange feeling seeing the birth and slow death of a game.

I still recommend them to anyone and stand by them as a pair of the better designed mutltiplayer FPS's of their time and even know, the balance in each game is impeccable.

anyone remember the counter strike Condition Zero debacle back before Valve couldn't be trusted to meet an announced release date?

I love fallout 3, so probably that as well.

My inner Grammar Nazi must be appeased! There should be a 'than' in the title, not a 'then'! What were you THINKING?!?!

I've played Left 4 Dead 2 for 170+ hours... but I'm working hard on raising it. I'm pretty sure I'm way past that in Team Fortress 2, but both the Steam stats and the game stats have been reset so there's no way to tell anymore.

FFX combined more then 400 hours and if we account WoW

simple math here
let's say 300 days in a year
for 6 years
5 hours a day
300*5 = 1500*6 = 9000 hours on WoW on a course of 6 years

wow it's actually 9000 and not moar? hmm I need to reactivate my account and play another hour!

'edit'

5 hours is actually way beneeth my daily dosis of WoW (when I used to play) so yeah I feel sad now.

Really, any pokemon game.
It seems I'm never satisfied with the same party over every game, so I end up spending over 100+ hours perfecting it.
And now theres online multiplayer....SHIT
If not pokemon, Golden Sun games. I loves them.

Pretty sure MW2 took the cake for continuous time. Played it my entire first and first have of my second semester of college. However I would imagine WC3 has taken my soul. Especially if you add time i've spent with its bastard children HON and LoL

Hm, ya I've been playing Baldur's Gate I for about 9 years, beat it countless times. I particularly enjoy the Tutu mod.

NWN series were disapointing but Dragon Age was a refreshing step in the right direction.

I can't think off memory I do know that I had at least 300 in Fallout 3 but when I play a game and it is really awesome I usually put in at least 70 hours mainly RPGs but even sometimes when it is something else that doesn't have much to do I put in at about 70 hours

I have a handful of games that stand out. I can't recall which I played the most though.

Star Trek: Armada for PC is the only RTS I've ever liked. (I tried probably 6, including 1 other Star Trek RTS, and Armada 2,) I played it for a few years off & on before it seriously started collecting dust. I can't say for certain I've played this the most because I didn't play it for a few years straight. I'd play it a lot for a while, and not touch it for a month or 2 or 3. Then, start playing a lot again. Repeat.

Black on Xbox 1 is the most enjoyable FPS I've ever played to just blow stuff up. I was ecstatic it was backwards compatible on the 360. Thank goodness for unlockable unlimited ammo & the trick that removes the blur when you reload. (BTW, if you just pause briefly after every shot, it only takes 3 bullets to kill most bad guys.)

Eternal Champions for the Sega CD. Best 1 on 1 fighter ever. They took the cartridge version, refined everything about it, put in great cinemas to tell the story, and generally cranked everything up to 11. Tons of fighters, tons of moves, tons of finishing moves, tons of gore, and an actual reason for everyone to be fighting. I played that about 9 months.

Iron Soldier 1 & 2 for Atari Jaguar & Jag CD are great mech games that aren't too complex & aren't too simple. I played them both for 6-9 months. The draw distance was amazing for its day. It wasn't until the current generation of consoles until games regularly had draw distances that far.

Honorable mentions to:
Soul Calibur - Dreamcast
Dead Rising - 360
Burnout 3 & Burnout revenge - xbox. Best sense of extreme speed ever.
GTA 3 & Vice City - PC. Great car physics/handling along with everything else being really fun.
Midtown Madness 1&2 - PC. Best car physics/handling in my opinion. It was also the 1st game I learned to mod. Being able to add new cars made it even cooler.

Dragon Age has interesting, well written characters and a fleshed out world with lots of lore and backstory, but personally I really dislike the combat system and encounter design.
