Its simple, post what ever game series you think needs a huge way to turn its self around, or to just fall off of the cliff. Alright, I guess I'll go first since I made this thread to begin with. Call of Duty, I'm sorry but the game should have ended at COD 4. Its just lost all the fun the games gave me as a younger guy, personally, the fun I got from those was because of the games uniqueness, now its just repeating itself. Sure theres a new story, but whats keeping me from driving the same car, probably a little bit to worn out, with just new paint and stickers everywhere. Its not bad, its just I can't help but notice it hasn't really even changed much and really tries to be unique only to scratch off some of the paint and show its old colors.
So what games series do you think just need to stop.
Edit: HOLY SHIT, THIS THING IS POPULAR!? Well, thank you everyone who commented on this forum, I really appreciate this community, and the people who posted or even just read things on this forum.

Final Fantasy...I never cared for the series, and it seems like there's still 50,000 more games to come.

Tomb Raider. I loved the series back in the 90s, but the prospect of yet another bloody reboot and an attempt to make it more 'realistic' just fills me with dread.

Command and Conquer.

I know they tried to finish, but they are owned by EA. I think it really died after Kane's Wrath.

The Madden series i know what they gettin at since draff picks change every year but that does not mea releaase a new game every dam year. unless u change serious points in the gameplay just make any new teams and players Dlc or plain updates. but this is pointless since madden sell milions each year.

Edit yeah this can apply to any sports game withh a year in it

Nothing. I'm not so selfish as to wish a game series to stop purely because I never liked it or don't like where it's going. If I don't like a series anymore I just stop buying it's games.

Every sports title with a year at the end of its name.
A thousand times this.

More generally, I'd be inclined to say, most of them.
Only a small number of devs seem willing to significantly change the gameplay of titles in their franchises enough to warrant another sequel (other than what amounts to a map-pack cash-grab).

That said, there are also too many "new" IPs which are little more than a re-skinned variant of an existing title, bringing nothing new to their genre.

Pokemon, I loved it when I was a kid and it was just 150 of them and you could easily keep track of their names and abilities if you were as devoted to it like I was when I was 6 years old.

However, now it's over 600 of the bastards and seriously out of control but as long as it keeps hypnotizing little children, the series will likely end up with a total of over 9000 Pokemon before someone puts the overly-milked franchise to bed with a gunshot to it's head

From my point of view, it looks like it's going to develop an uglier case of franchiside than what Star Wars has if this continues the way it does

I predict many CoD and FF answers from people who might not have even played a game in either series.
OP: Until EA relinquishes the rights of the NFL label, Madden. No competition has made the series grow stagnant.

I agree with this. Crystal Dynamics was better when they were making Legacy of Kain. Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary/Underworld were horrible when you compare them to the original games.

Good news, everyone. CoD is not going anywhere.

You can complain all you want.

OT: None, as long as someone's enjoying the games.

Way to take the thread too seriously up there on your moral high-ground.

OT: CoD or Halo.

Pretty much anything made by Nintendo, how many more times can they release the same games every year.

All of them.

Why? Not because I hate series in general, but wouldn't it just be awesome to see a fresh start? New line ups, new franchises, new mascots. It would be a rebirth.
Sure ten years down the line we'd be in the same place again, but damn it would be amazing to experience.

Silent Hill.

Just look at it. The series officially stopped on 3rd while 4th, The Room, being an offspin.
And they still try to push it out.

I'm a Halo fan, but I really think the series should have ended with Reach. Halo: Evolutions proved to me that 343 Industries doesn't care about the franchise other than the money it rakes in for them. I know what it's like to watch a beloved franchise get horribly dismembered for the sake of money (I'm looking at you, George Lucas), and I don't want to see that happen to Halo.
