I was listening to an episode of Phill and Phil's Perfect Ten (great podcast, go download it) and this question popped up. So, what gender roles/stereotypes do you not ascribe to? For me, I love musical theatre whilst staying quite straight. So Escapists, how about you?
PS: I know my example may not be the greatest but just roll with it.
- I absolute love cute things and animals.
- I am very interested in emotions.
- I love art and aesthetics.
- I don't care for cars or driving.
- I don't like action movies or violence in general (though when done with emotion and elegance, I absolute love it).
- I am a pacifist, detest the military, and hate real-life guns (but love them in games).
- I'm much more interested in social dynamics/human interaction, psychology, and how society works than engineering or hands-on work.
I don't give a crud about being manly. I'd much rather enjoy my life than pretending to be something I'm not.
Not a breadwinner at the moment, but that's about it to be honest... I'm a fairly masculine guy, just not blatant about it.
Oh, and I don't have a typical "manly" build (broad shoulders, muscular, etc). I'm very lean, but am actually really strong, stronger than many muscular guys I know.
First off i'm quite a big tattoo'd fella, ex military, shaved head and I like beer (although the head shaving isn't purely for looks i'm going grey but i'm too vain to look at it).
Now you have the image.
I have a pet Rabbit I love to bits.
Just got a baby Ferret thats cute as hell.
I'm mad about my missus.
I enjoy spending time with my kids.
I listen to 60's music not just because I was brought up on it by my parents but I really do enjoy it.
I like Battlestar Gallactica.
I use my PC a hell of a lot for gaming.
I have It qualifications and i'm a chef.
Nearly everyone I know does know i'm a bit of a "geek" for the most part but the main advantage to being a big guy with my background is .... no bugger dares to mock me for it.
I'm kinda like the geek bullies hated at school, they couldn't pick on someone that would squash their heads with his bare hands.
And that my friends, is why I love my life. It doesn't matter what I do people don't mock me to my face about it.
I don't like sports. I love mario games. I love puppies. I enjoy cooking and cleaning. I don't drink, hate alcohol. I don't smoke, weak lungs. I love musical theater. Probably more, but I can do it all and still be straight. Who knew?
I avidly cook and dance, sometimes even at the same time.
I'm an absolute sub in intimate interactions, unless I have to be more dominant for her comfort.
I am obsessively focused on talking out issues and emotions.
I have a strange fondness for "girly" music.
There are some things that make me apologetically squeee...
I can't stand drinking ahcolol at all and I don't watching any sports of any kind. I don't watch Top Gears since I'm not into cars at all (in fact I dislike driving since I fear I would crash while driving).

On topic (please note, I am of the female gender):
- My room regularly looks like a tornado ran through it- clothes and various crap everywhere. I hate cleaning.
- I hate talking on the phone for long periods of time.
- I love sports, especially American football and soccer. (Baseball is annoying, though.)
- I have an amazingly dirty mind.
- I swear like a sailor.
- I'm almost never emotional; I'm usually the most logical of my (mostly male) group of friends.
That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure there's other things.
*I love cooking, I do it every chance I get. I'm in the process of teaching my girlfriend how to cook. Not just the typical "man grill meat" stuff either. I make risotto's, frittata's, chili, soups, lasagna... Lots of stuff. Some of it vegetarian. My girlfriend is vegetarian (one with quite a narrow palette) so we've been working on finding new foods that she likes. Part of that has been to find new vegetarian stuff to cook. I'm not a vegetarian, but I like to be supportive so I cook new veggy stuff with her, as long as it sounds decent. I've even liked all the stuff we've cooked.
*I do cry when I need to. I cry during movies (only good ones, I'm not a TOTAL sap). Certain songs will make me cry. Emotional stress. Whatever it is, I'm not too "manly" to repress it, although personally I feel that a man that's too embarrassed to show emotions is a pussy.
*I like love to cuddle.
Despite those, I'm quite typically "masculine" in many ways.
I prefer to drive whenever I go out with friends/girlfriend
I love watching and playing sports
I love video games
I have many scars, of which I'm quite proud.
I still go "booya!" every time my girlfriend orgasms.
I love beer. Since I turned 21, I've been venturing around the local area trying new beers. I've loved it.
I have a weakness for a good sports bike.
Ya, fairly stereotypical "man", but I offset it well with a decent communication with my "feminine" side, and enough confidence to act the way I want, whether or not people think it will be "manly". For instance, my girlfriend and I met over a year ago, at a mutual friend's party, had a one night stand. As we cuddled afterward, I asked her if we could go on a date, because I'm not really the kind of guy that has one night stands. Worked fairly well, been dating over a year.
I'm not really dominant or 'alpha' in any way, but please don't mistake that for lacking confidence I'm very happy with who I am and if you're not then well... it's a big world, you can go somewhere else.
I strongly believe men should be caretakers and supporters as much as women are, and I intend to fulfil that role (and visa-versa I expect women to be providers and protectors as much as men are).
I've no interest whatsoever in cars and I don't like driving. I've got a driver's license and get from A to B without any problems, I just don't like doing it.
I think watching sports on TV is about as boring as you can get and I don't care about any of the popular team sports (soccer, rugby, basketball, American football etc.) I'll go running or exercising on my own any day.
I greatly enjoy a good romance (note: I say good romance for a reason. I consider wish-fulfilment fantasies mainly based on lust to be bad romances, which I can't say I enjoy much at all). For example, I think Before Sunrise [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112471/] is an absolutely beautiful movie.
And probably quite a few other things, but these sprang to mind first.
EDIT: Since it's been mentioned a few times and I find it quite amusing: I also pee while sitting down. I'm very tall so it tends to get messy if I don't. Try pouring a glass of juice while holding the bottle over half a meter above the glass if you don't know what I mean...
