When i first heard that a new Counter strike game is coming out, the first thing that came into my mind is why? 1.6 is still played for its gaming goodness and Source is still played for its mods (Regular CS in Source isn't nearly as good as 1.6). I saw that it allows people over the consoles and PC to play against each other, which is nice, but it doesn't make me have any incentive to move over to it. So here are the things that Global Offensive needs if it wants to beat Source (ignoring 1.6 since there really is no reason to move over if your still playing it)
1. Source Mods as built in game modes: Around 60% of the servers I see in Source are mod servers, and for good reason, the mods in Source are some of the funnest I've ever played. Valve will need to implement Gungame, Jailbreak, Surf, Minigame, Zombie Mod, and Zombie Escape into Global Offensive. This allows mappers from Source to start making maps for Global Offensive as soon as the game comes out. Of course Valve can make their own maps, but many popular maps from Source are based on trademarked material that Valve can't use.
2. Better update support: If you played Source a year ago, you should know about the CS:S update. It ruined all custom maps made and ruined any mods servers were running. It took a month or 3 just to get some servers running as they were before the update. Zombie Escape had to resort to an old broken mod just to play because the modder took months just to update Zombie Mod. It only got worse since every new update over a month broke mods and maps. Global Offensive will get updates, but we need updates that don't break all custom content by users (I know Hidden Path entertainment made the update, but Source is Valve's property and allowed them to make it, so I blame Valve)
3. Better hit boxes: Source hit boxes are behind the person, so if you want to shoot someone, shoot where they were before. Its confusing and will probably turn people away from the game. This is however going to be implemented in the game from the gameplay I've seen, so hopefully this is a given.
