So today is June 6th. Its my birthday.

Those of you who know youre 20th century history, or have seen Tom Hanks single handedly save France, and Ryan, you'll remember that June 6th marks the day in which France was re-invaded by the good guys on D-Day, in which 12,000 allied soldiers lost thier lives.

So: What happened on your birthday in history?

That is, of course, something other than your birth.

Hitler committed suicide and George Washington became President, those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

Oh, Kirsten Dunst was born, surely that should be up there with Hitler dying.

EDIT: According to Wikipedia the Church of Satan was also founded on April 30th.

So... any year? Isn't that boring, how about we do the exact day!
On my exact birthday Jeffrey Dahmer was finally arrested.

If you're just interested in any day it's the day John Dillinger got shot and the birth date of Gustav Hertz and Edward Hopper. And since last year I can now also add the Norway incident to the list...

I think the biggest event was the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 where Horatio Nelson led a British fleet and near enough wiped out the French and Spanish fleets in a decisive battle involving around 75 warships. It has long been considered one of the most important naval battles in British history.

Then the usual bunch of people being born and dying blah blah blah.

Nothing much. Just a bunch of people I don't care about died and boring political stuff.
You forgot about 'a bunch of people I don't care about were born' as well... -_-

OT: Battle of Look-out Mountain...? *nnn*?!

Though on a better note, same birthday as William Web Ellis! Less but still kinda cool: Alexnader Suvorov as well... not bothered about the deaths... *shrug*

I was born on April 6th, 1994, which is the day after Kurt Cobain shot himself, but 2 days before they found the body. It is also the same day that the Rwandan Genocide began (cheery stuff). I also share a birthday with Raphael (the artist, not the turtle), Zach Braff (JD from Scrubs) and Frank Black (from the Pixies) and on april 6th 1917, America declared war on Germany.

Quite a lot of stuff really. It's also on Good Friday a lot.

Quite a few things happened on July 19th. The great fire of Rome, many war events, then a mafia group placed a car bomb that killed a judge, the first three dimensional reconstruction of the human head on a computed tomography. A lot of people were also born on that day. It's also the 200th day of the year.

Edit: and a flesh eating dinosaur was resurrected.

Dolly the sheep, the first successfully cloned mammal, was born on the exact same day as me.
I guess that's interesting? Maybe? Sorta'?

In 1872 the Mary Celeste was found by British brig Dei Gratia

In 1954 the first Burger King was opened

In 1980 Led Zeppelin disbanded

And in 2006 an adult giant squid is caught on video for the first time

Some pretty cool stuff happened on my birthday.

1968 ? Apollo program: NASA launches Apollo 6.
1979 ? President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto of Pakistan is executed.
1873 ? The Kennel Club is founded, the oldest and first official registry of purebred dogs in the world.

Also I share the same birthday with Robert Downy Jr aka Tony Stark from Iron Man.

Let's have a look at the Wikipedia page for 28th of February.

1953 ? James D. Watson and Francis Crick announce to friends that they have determined the chemical structure of DNA;
1935 ? DuPont scientist Wallace Carothers invents nylon.

That's pretty interesting I guess. There has also been many accidents, earthquakes and shootings on my birthday throughout the years. That's a bit depressing.

It is also National Science Day in India, and Rare Disease Day internationally.

Johannes Kepler and Louis Pasteur both share my birthday.

So does Hayley Williams, but that's... less impressive.
