What have all these awesome, solid, etc Microsoft E3 showings actually led to?

For nearly ever year so far this generation, the general consensus of Microsoft?s E3 showings have included very positive feedback. But when you look back, how much of the great content they have shown hasn?t been what we could also get somewhere else (PC/PS)?

The question is ultimately, when will Microsoft actually give gamers a real incentive to own an Xbox?

In a way it?s nicely cost effective for the consumer as it is since there isn?t much of one yet, but I would legitimately like to see the brand truly surprise us with Scarlet, especially in terms of high quality software. Because right now given their track record of big announcements with little to show for them, there?s no reason to consider any of it as more than a blip on the radar.

Selling their system is Microsofts problem, not mine. I just watch the show. So when I say the presentation is solid I don't evaluate it from a marketing standpoint but from a standpoint of whether I liked the presentation and the games shown. Whether I'll buy it on a microsoft system is only loosely related to that and I don't know, nor do I really care whether other people buy Microsofts stuff. I am generally inclined against taking Microsofts perspective. It's a large corporation, they are not my friend, they just sell me stuff.

Personally, based on the presentation this year I will at least look into buying the scarlet and I will at least look into the xbox game pass. Apparently Paradox Interactive is interested in the idea and I would appreciate a way to play paradox games without having to put 8 gazillion DLC packages into my steam wishlist. But those are all decisions for later. Right now, it was a fun show with decent looking games.

MS is spending money during these shows tricking casuals into thinking these games are exclusive when they're multiplat. They did this with db fighterz last year and now Elden Ring among others. I'm sure they get some sales out of it but it's not gonna make much of an impact overall.

It's kinda like those timed exclusives or timed exclusive dlc they used to do. More gimmicks to hide the fact X1 has basically nothing worth getting it over a normal gaming pc.
