What if there was a Giant Videogame Crossover with Wizards/Sorcerers/etc from movies/comics/videogames and made it like a Arena Moba game? Sound Radical [80' never dies]

Rincewind [Discworld]

Black Mage [Final Fantasy]

Sorcerer [Diablo]

Yellow [magicka]

Nagash [Warhammer]

Balthazar [The Sorcerer?s Apprentice]

Gandalf [Lord of The Rings]

Aeon [Leap of Fate]

What about you?

Rincewind would never be thrown into a tournament, on the grounds that he would throw himself out again by any means necessary.

I don't even play MOBAs anymore, but I find this kind of speculation enjoyable. I just finished The Malazan Book of the Fallen, so forgive me for picking entirely from there as I'm still really hyped about the ending:

I don't post images very often, so hopefully I don't fuck this up...

Ben Adaephon Delat -he becomes quite over powered eventually, so I'd limit his abilities to one spell from only some of his Warrens. He'd have a focus on setting traps, moving unseen, and having buff skills that enhance other characters (especially assassins). He's plenty capable of brute force in the series, but it's not really his style, so I'd leave that out for balance purposes.

Son of Darkness -he'd have a focus on sheer power. He can call upon the support of his flying fortress, Moon's Spawn, can summon allies to assist him, and can veer into a powerful black dragon. If he kills a foe in melee, their respawn timer is increased (gotta take extra time to get out of that sword -ya I know this isn't lore friendly, but it'd be OP if they just never came back).

Lifestealer -Brute force. He's not exactly a mage in the traditional sense of the series, but his power relies on magic. He'd have a mechanic where the longer he was in combat, the stronger and more resistant to damage he'd become. He could have a cap on this passive since otherwise, he'd destroy the map and nobody would win. He could be susceptible to sleep spells in his enraged state.

Imperial High Mage -Hard to find a picture of the guy. Just picture a human in the middle of that one particularly large gout of flame. He specializes in fire magic so his spells could have lingering damage effects and field effects. He also has a wide variety of demons at his disposal which he can choose to summon. Some of these demons are more powerful than he is, so we'll forget about those for the sake of balance.

Azath Guardian -wields ice magic and is capable of freezing huge sections of the battlefield at once. He can also conjure an Azath House to imprison an enemy (not exactly lore friendly, but sort of...).

Yeah, it also helps that Rincewind is really bad at magic, like "rating negative in a magic scale" bad. However, he is really good at not being where the danger is...

But I am in favor of including a discworld character in the brawl, so my vote goes to Coin the Sourcerer, Ridcully the Archchancellor or, for a not so magical option, the Librarian.

Munstrum Ridcully or Ponder Stibbons. Either the Archchancelor who, while a bit of a doof, has a great deal of experience in actually being powerful, or the young Rocket Wizard. We can get our laughs with a wizard capable of wizarding, easy.

For other venues, I call attention to Man-Of-Many-Names or Harlequin of Shadowrun, or quite possibly John Constantine and Harry Dresden of their respective literaure.

Dunno, as much as I love him Gandalf is kinda just some dude in a robe that's decent with a sword and has good timing compared to other high fantasy magic users like Elminster, Rand al'Thor, or Raistlin Majere, all of whom have outright apocalyptic power in their respective series.

I mean, spoilers for a 30 year old book, Raistlin quite literally kills the gods and ends the world. How do you compete with that?

Dude, Granny Weatherwax. She's easily among if not the the most powerful magic user in the Discworld setting.

Yes, Granny is indeed powerful (I believe in Equal Rites she tied with Ridcully), but her magic is not the flashy kind.

Not doubting her power, but she is not the kind of going around throwing fireballs at other people.

The wizard she fights in Equal Rites wasn't Ridcully, it was his predecessor, and she matched him spell for spell. It's actually a pretty awesome chapter since as you say Granny doesn't often let loose and show off how powerful she actually is...

Plus this whole mage contest has been a total sausage fest so far, so why not include her? She'd kick ass.

I was thinking only one person from each franchise, because with that logic all the wizards of Harry Potter series or in Lord of the Rings must make an appearance.

He would be a character who is literally unkillable, have zero attack and the fastest speed of anything. But his ultimate will summon death who will do some major damage.
I'd say it would be more appropriate if his ultimate temporarily unleashed the Luggage instead. Rincewind himself would be a really fragile joke character (who would just run away uncontrollably back to spawn if 'killed' instead of dying). But, his summon would be an ill-tempered, near unstoppable juggernaut of destruction because the Sapient Pearwood its made of make it impervious to magic.
