I do my best to try and avoid being the older guy screaming at the little kid in vent chat or /2 but the fact is it would help if there where safe guards in place to prevent little kids from playing.

Yes we would still have a few younger players as it would not be the first time a parent purchased their child an m rated game without thinking about it. But it would be nice to have an M rating for the sake of sanity and perhaps some GM's banning little kids for age related reasons.

Sadly I don't see that happening. The only way to actually prove the person was a specific age was if they showed some sort of ID for playing, but even then, the kids would be playing off their parents' cards and IDs.

The fact that you believe that putting a higher age restriction on the game will remove any portion of the immature players is quite discouraging. There happens to be a large time frame in which adolescents are more impulsive, due to numerous chemical and social changes in their bodies. This stage of development is called "Adolescence". It starts with the onset of puberty (around 10-15 in males, 8-13 in females) and ends when one is considered an adult. Generally, this is when the individual has become employed, married, a parent, or otherwise shown their ability to function as a member of their society.

During this stage of "A-do-le--sce-nce", adolescents tend to be more rude, outspoken, etc. then they were during childhood and, likely, will be during adulthood. Therefore, the ones who you desire removed are those who are "maturing". Keep in mind, of course, that the ESRB rating "Mature" has nothing to do with whether one is actually mature or still maturing.

More to the point (the point being that it's based around a fallacy that depends on people who annoy oneself being lesser in some regard), it would not work. For one thing, such a change would have absolutely no effect on current players.

EDIT:

Yes we would still have a few younger players as it would not be the first time a parent purchased their child an m rated game without thinking about it. But it would be nice to have an M rating for the sake of sanity and perhaps some GM's banning little kids for age related reasons.
Quoted a reference to which part of the OP I was responding to.

i have to agree with you, when i graduated high school i was much more immature but when i went to college and had to live on my own with parents helping for little more than tuition my attitude certainly changed allot.

Would be kinda difficult to have a Sophomore of College and up only system.

I started when I was 12, I made no enemies I was mature and made a lot of friends 16+, are you saying I didn't deserve a chance because of stereoyping all 12 year olds when there is a lot of immature people who are 18+ on games?

This explains why I would fully accept an M rating to WoW, even though I would be 12 when I got it.

EDIT: WHAT? IT WAS REMOVED DUE TO COPYRIGHT?

To who?

Oh well. It's a 11 year old acting... well... very innapropriate for 53 minutes.

So long... So funy.

Probably should. That game pushes the "game experience may change online" tag pretty far. Trade chat? Hello?

well the leveling process tends to cull most of the young ones but yeh a few get to cap
has it occured to you to join a guild that either has an age restricion or kicks immature players?
i mean seriously at endgame you dont have to put up with many players that arnt guildies apart from trade chat (which is fairly shocking these days, especialy alli's) so do you really think its fair for blizz to try and ban alot of players that, even if they are idiots, probably only interact with other idiots?
and anyway even if your looking at it from a skill level prespective saying that younger players underperform is total bull, nihilum (now the core of ensidea) had quite alot of members as young as 13, many of which are now in ensidea.
so yeh your problems probably not the kids its that you need to get into a decent guild.

In my rating games with M ratings don't have any less retarded user bases, I don't think it would make any difference to be honest.

Or you could have age based areas like concentration camps where they can run around a little on their own and secluded from view of you 'hard-core' gamers.

Wait, no. That would be a stupid idea. Perhaps a non-vicious clamp so if you flip you get banned. That might be better.

Blizzard would lose half their market though, seeing as more and more younger kids are playing WoW now. From the sounds of it though, sounds like it's a good thing I quit.

Even if WoW had an M rating, I still wouldn't play it.
[sup]Unless it were free to play of course. I just don't like the monthly subscription thing, because I have too little time to play it and that would make it a big waste of money.[/sup]
