It can be anything you do or think about as long as you devote an abnormal (arguably unhealthy) amount of your resources (time, money, thought, etc.) towards it. It can be one thing, it can be a laundry list of things. Let loose and let the world know through the anonymity of the internet.

Since I started this thread, I suppose I'm obligated to go first.

1) I spend far too much time on YouTube correcting misconceptions about Titanic, especially regarding conspiracy theories.

2) I spend far too much time on Titanic in general.

3) I watch too much Futurama. (over and over again)

4) I watch too much Archer. (read Futurama)

5) I spent far too much time dreaming up stories that I inevitably and invariably fail to write down. Seriously, sometimes I think about one story for years at a time, each second spent delicately carving out a full world and (what I believe to be) compelling characters and narratives yet nary a syllable makes it's way onto paper. I'll never know if they're any good or not.

6) Yo mama jokes.

7) Internet.

Manga. I finish a manga book or more every day, I spend all my spare cash on manga, and I've paid up to 700 kronor (about 90 dollars) on one manga book.

My wife and I go to the gym together almost daily when work doesn't get in the way. We probably spend a little to much money on supplements.

Time for me to get my nerd going.

1. Anime- at least twenty plus hours a week goes into watching anime.
2. Monster Girls- five hours a week goes into learning, writing, and enjoying them
3. The escapist- If I'm bored, I just come here and look through the forums or news.
4. Manga- If I find a new series that I really like, I have been known catch up on series that have 50+ chapters in two days.

Used to be pokemon (still, but not obsessive), then Naruto(not anymore). Now, My love for Puella Magi Madoka Magica is probably the closest. That said, I don't really have time for obsessions outside of academic ones.

Writing.

I'm not just into it because of skills that I discovered in high school and nurtured through college to a fine art. I actually have trouble STOPPING creative impulses. I'm very imaginative. Those of you who have seen my Fallout RP here? A SMALL FRACTION of the things I've already done. That's just a big genre RP. I created worlds, alien races, gigantic plots, and MANY characters. I justified the incredible power of a super-villain of mine by actually characterizing and growing him up for years.

swords.

Ever since i was a wee lad i've had a strange obsession with sharp metal things, at first it was just "knights and samurai and musketeers are cool! they all use swords! swords are cool!" then it turned into collecting, then i did my senior research paper on the evolution of swords over time, and i was forced to cut out more than half of what i wrote due to the presentation time i was allowed. then i started learning to sword fight, first with cut down broom sticks and my friends messing around, then an Aikiken class, then a Fiore class, and recently i've been looking into forging techniques and pondering if i could put a forge into my backyard. not to mention how many hours a week i spend on reading about swords and the cultures they come from.

in short. I like swords. (sword-chucks yo!)

Making back-stories, personalities and universes for fictional characters to play in.

Yeah...it's just a "hobby".

Second those. I'll add Arrested Development and Louie. I watch those series when I get bored. I must've seen the entirety of Arrested Development about 8 times now.

Listening to music. I listen to shit loads of music. I could listen to it for hours on end. I gotta discover a new artist at least every week or two, or I fall into a bit of a rut. Though I often fall back on Warren Zevon.

Well being a teenager in my prime I spend an unhealthy amount of time and thought on my physical appearance. I'll grow out of it eventually and like everything else the healthy amount will remain.

I brew beer and drink a lot of beer. Often at the same time.
I also like mucking around with computer related things. Trying out various OSs, emulators, virtual machines, applications.

A good weekend for me is a day spent brewing and an evening drinking beer and trying out a new Linux distro.

This year, it's been photographing airshows. It's gotten so bad that, due to the season being over, I had some time off work last week and chose to spend a day at RAF Coningsby, photographing Typhoons!

£4500 spent on camera gear this year. Jumping for joy at being one of the first people to see the new livery on MK356, the BoB Memorial Flights Mk.IX Spitfire. Standing in fields on wet days, just for one or two specific shots.

I don't know what I'm going to do during the winter!

Videogames. Other than work , that's what i spend most of my time doing. Actually if i go a day without playing something, i get very bored and don't have the will to do anything. I spend most of my money on videogames and videogame accessory.

The next one is very embarassing . Porn . This is very recent , i now watch porn ( and masturbate) everyday . I do have a girlfriend and we live together ( been 3 years). We frequently have sex , but for some reason it's not enough. It's gotten to the point where iv'e been late to work because i was watching porn at home. Usually i will do it in the morning after i wake up , and at night before going to bed . It doesn't help that i find the porn i watch weird.

It's a hobby for me because I fail to write anything down or get any real use out of it. I also play guitar, but that's just a hobby. Eric Clapton wouldn't say his guitar playing is a hobby.

Didn't mean to say that writing was just a hobby.

Too much League. Honestly yesterday I got up at 3pm then played League until fuckin' 2am. Best.

May just play jungle Aatrox to Gold. He carries so fucking hard. I don't think it is even possible to lose your early game when playing him.

In no particular order:

1. Ponies!
2. Porn (I will not go into specifics... not even in spoiler tag form... I have some high standards to this particular hobby, though...)
3. Let's Plays
4. Anime/Manga
5. Videogames
6. Dancing (Anytime... Anywhere... Without warning...)
7. Gangster lingo/Rapping incoherently and repetitively...
8. Random talking (usually to myself about nothing)
9. Collector's Edition-finder...
10. Asking random strangers if I could fix their yard (sometimes without any physical pay)
11. Haikus
12. Jokes (unconventional ones)
13. Non-serious responses to serious questions and/or responses... (My one forum weakness!!)
14. Having too many obsessive hobbies...
15. A combination of any of the above obsessions in some way, shape, or form...

And all that does not include fictional writing, since I don't find it obsessive and it's something I want to do as a career...

Warhammer 40K.

I work 10.5 hour shifts during the week and usually on Saturdays and I'm lucky to get out of the office before 10:00 most days. It doesn't leave me with a lot of free time to go to the movies or bar and it requires me to have hobbies that can be done quietly.

So I turned to miniature painting an kinda got swallowed up into the entertaining (though admittedly silly) setting.

I'd share a larger picture, but I'm unfortunately in the middle of a move and that's all that's been unpacked.
Those familiar with the game will recognize that the models shown are from the Orks, Chaos Marines, Daemons and Tyranid armies.

Each of which I have at between 1-2k points worth of models for in addition to a relatively modest Space Marine Army.

In laymans terms, I have a bookshelf entirely dedicated to housing my custom painted toy soldiers and it's starting to get full.

In addition to that I have a respectable (being a relative term here, I admit) collection of 40K fiction, mostly from the Horus Heresy books.

I watch a lot of classic Doctor Who, especially the ones that star Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and UNIT, I spend a hell of a lot of time here, as well as on GiantBomb and on Youtube, and I am currently spending a lot of time on my Nintendo 3DS playing the hell out of Pokemon X and Y as well as Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time 3D.

Oh no, sorry sorry, that wasn't what I was saying.
I wasn't trying to be spiteful or anything at you insinuating writing to be 'just a hobby', but more that my obsessive and ridiculous levels of care I put into things that don't exist would probably alarm some people.

You know those people who have blogs detailing the adventures of their Elder Scrolls characters as if they were real people?

I'm pretty close to that.

Cosplay, I do mine on the cheap (can probably tell from the poorish quality XD) but I've sunk at least a couple of hundred quid and about 10 hours making them, finding materials, etc. Then all the money I spend on cons and what I spend there...

Also not a hobby but I sink a lot of money into doing my hair, I dye it about 8 times a year and I'm always fiddling with the colour. I'm happy with the colour now, it's just keeping up with it...

(And please no one act like I don't know how hair works, I know it's gonna wreck it eventually but for now it's in good condition...)
