What is it with Roleplaying gamers and their need to flame any RPG they're not currently playing?

Lemme make it quick:

Played World of Warcraft - tons of people complaining about how only kiddies, noobs, idiots and morons are playing all those other RPGs. Been sick of that after a while, so I decided to start playing Lord of the Rings Online.

Played Age of Conan - tons of people complaining about how only kiddies, noobs, idiots and morons are playing all those other RPGs. Been sick of that after a while, so I decided to start playing Aion.

Played [fill in title of your favorite RPG here] - tons of people complaining about how only kiddies, noobs, idiots and morons are playing all those other RPGs. Been sick of that after a while, so I decided to start playing [fill in title of random RPG here].

Is there any RPG out there that players are actually playing in? Or should I just come to terms with the fact that RPGs DO attract kids, noobs, idiots, morons and most of all trolls like a cold, free pitcher of beer and a naked chick after twenty years of solitary confinement?

Spread round all of them. The vast majority of games with a multiplayer component have their share of said people.

And peopel tend to be playign the game they like, and have found a comunity they like.

It's a Republican conspiracy!

Seriously what do you want? It's just petty fanboyism, like how the MicroTards would flood the sites of Sony Cronies with derogatory comments about the console, or vice versa.

MMOs usually tend to create an in game elitism amongst some of it's fan base. The "my MMO can beat up your MMO" sort of mentality/opinion leads to the assumption that anyone who chooses another MMO is just stupid.

Another situation (of many) is our imaginary player "Gamerguy" plays "MMO-A and MMO-B" and runs into asshole crowds. Decides to then play "MMO-C" and finds a nice group who also bad mouth "MMO-A and MMO-B" and he obviously finds them really inciteful about MMO gaming. They share common viewpoints so how could they NOT be inciteful, right? This leads to alot of "taking their word for it about "MMO-D and MMO-E". RInse and repeat really.

This is why I personally am just critical of MMOs. I think WoW is a blight on MMOs and think it took them in the wrong direction. (Backwords) I see a million things wrong with it, yet I do not hold it against someone who enjoys it. I don't expect everyone to see games the same way I do so it's best just to ignore these crowds as there really isn't a whole lot of difference between them and the so called "kids, noobs, idiots, morons" that are attracted to these games in general. Ironic? I don't think so. I think it is more of a pot and kettle situation.

Find a guild where there are serious roleplayers, block out other channels and be happy?

It's seriously not difficult to find RPers in ANY game with a little bit of effort, even just checking the forums will help you out. Willing to bet I could browse the forums of those games you mentioned and find guilds advertising in one way or another.

you only brought up MMOs, which are usually just bubbling cesspits with a devastated player economy.

They are in general/trade chat talking about religion, politics, other users, making crappy jokes, etc.

Although I would love to consider them all idiots you have to remember everyone plays an MMO differently. Myself I loved the raiding in WoW, while someone else is content with just doing their random heroic and grinding out some items. I'm sure somewhere in the mix are people who just like being social and cause an uproar with all the super nerds.

Honestly, I see more of the "Every other game but the ones I like suck" type people in the FPS crowd than I do in the RPG crowd. Of course, that could be because I haven't played an MMO in a while.
