So my girlfriends American friends always tell me how cute my British accent is (even though it isn't a "stereotypical" Londoner's accent), but I was just wondering what it is that American girls find so attractive about them...

Interesting and creative comments welcome^^

Edit: Wrong forum! I'm trying to find a Moderator to move it for me, apologies!

Just a 'normal' one?
From the South East, so not Liverpool or Scouse, or Brummy.

I suppose its 'normal' for me, I don't know what a typical British accent would be like?

Considering just how many different accents there are in Britain, this question is relatively meaningless, except to raise the question of what recording examples of all known accents from Britain and digitally collating them into one voice would sound like.

I think the Welsh accent is great. One of my friends moved to Wales and we tease her now because he accent has completely changed from her posh private-school accent to a full on Welsh accent.

I suppose what I mean by the British accent is the one always portrayed on American TV.

A good example is Angelina Jolie's British accent in films like Tomb Raider.
My accent obviously isn't a sexy "Hello Boys" accent, but that would be a typical British accent in my opinion.

It does get a little annoying, when you have - your girlfriends sisters friends - 13 year old girls going "awwww how cute is his accent!"

I like the Welsh accent, I'm from Wales!

Well, I technically have Welsh, Scottish and English roots, but I've grown up in Wales.

Hmm, yes, that must get quite annoying. If you don't mind me asking, which part of England are you from?

I am from Hampshire, (North-of) in chavvy Andover! Nothing good to do in this town but go to the one half-decent club, or one of the many pubs...

I could listen to Stephen Fry read the back of cereal boxes for hours.

I love British accents.

Is it good to say his accent is probably the accent best to resemble my own?

I'm not gay, but I respect him. He is a legend. But, I have to dissagree with the cereal boxes. Morgan Freeman, all the way. xP

That's a good one too. xD

I would then put up Alan Rickman with a German accent...but to many, he probably wouldn't hold up to Morgan Freeman.

I know what you're saying. I have a southern scottish accent which compared to the northern accent is very soft. I get told by foreigners all the time they like my accent and when I get into a shouting insult contest I feel the accent helps a lot. Not sure what it is but accents do a lot to affect how peopole percieve you.

I'm from Surrey. So pretty much most of the Harry Potter cast have the same accent as me.

Oh, all my American friends on Xbox pull my leg all the time. If I get annoyed at something they start imitating my accent and shouting "Bl***y Wa***r!" That seems to be something else my American bro's like about me xP

Well, I do have an English accent and people say it's quite "Oxfordian" and that I sound quite like Stephen Fry, but those people are nothing but imbeciles.
