My brother and I have both tried to read "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, and niether of us like it. It seems to be a muddled mess, trying to be mature and a children's tale at the same time, creating characters and a story we are supposed to like, but end up hating. I think the book is well written, but if I really wanted to experience life in the army of the future, I would have read either "Starship Troopers" or "The Forever War". Does anyone else feel this way? Or are my brother and I the minority?

I hated Ender's Game. The entire story is one of justifying
xenophobia and genocide!
On top of that I remember it being rather mediocore at best. It may just be me, and I could hypthetically change my opinion on a second run through, but as it stands now, not is house, not with a mouse Sam I Am. Do not want.

I've never thought Orson Scott Card was that great of a writer. Sure, his writing isn't bad, per se, but it's not great. I never liked Ender's Game either, and I read it before I found out its subtext.
