So I was watching the new Infinite gameplay trailer for the umpteenbazilionth time and every time realized that every time I watch it, there is one little thing that really bugs me.

Between 1:44 and 1:47, on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, there is a fallen banner that sort of glitches in an out of reality. (not posting pictures because you need to see it animated to understand)

Now, the engine that this game runs is one of the most powerful in the industry, it has all of the distant floating islands actually be rendered rather than just be still artwork. This "phasing" in the trailer is definitely not a processor glitch.

We know there is more to Columbia than meets the eye, and Irrational is known for their attention to detail so they wouldn't let something like this slip unless it were significant.

My ideas are maybe "Him" is watching for the entire game and he is somehow causing that, or to get less realistic, something matrix-y is going on and everything is computorized.

Thoughts?

(opinion:) It's a heat shimmer effect. It could be some sort of sign of an enemy's passing, or a latent result of the metal bell skimming the ground.

This is not actual gameplay.

It's a pre-rendered cutscene created to sell the concept to investors and to give you a general feel for the game.

A gaming magazine noticed a similar effect in-game when they played it for their preview this month. The Exact text:

"...during our demo,we saw several objects shimmer briefly with a wave of bluish white. The shimmer seemed to alter them, changing pictures within frames and the words on banners."

So it's intentional.

It could be a sign of an enemies passing, as you can see the same effect on the guy in the Gazebo-thing. Or it could be a subtle warning that enemies are in the area? Either way both your theories seem pretty plausible. :D

Also, from the looks of that trailer, this game is a DEFINATE day 1 purchase!

i would actually accept that theory..and i would love it if this whole game was never really suppose to be happening... you wake up at the end of the game and your in the distant future where people are doing experiments on what it would be like if in 1910 somehow people have discovered how to have infinite amounts of fuel to burn the hot air balloons, have robot horses(we barely had cars back then) and the ability to ride on "arm roller coasters" without severely severing your shoulder... the super powers don't make sense in 1910 either
