Can anyone tell me what this animal is? My cat chased it out of the bedroom and I was lucky enough to be doing dishes and had just dried the pictured tupperware.

Where do you live? It would be nice to know so people don't throw out bad answers. Live around fields? Harvesting time.

It looks a bit like a rat but it seems slightly different. Does it have a hairless tail?

Ya it looks like a shrew to me too, because it's not really a mouse and it's not big enough to be anything else really.

There's no big nose and big ears is why I think it isn't a mouse, you may wish to google for pictures.

Edit: Google'd it, looks more like a vole than a shrew.

Also some of those shrews were damn ugly...

Also if it was already in your house it could be a baby mouse, how big is it?

I'd go with Shrew, or Vole. You know, some kind of small rodent. Obviously. Why is this a big deal? Everyone's got a mouse living in their house, like it or not.

Looks like either a mole or a possum.

My specialty's reptiles though, so all I can tell you with absolute certainty is that it's not one of those.

As much as I like the premise of this thread, the picture is out of focus and the animal generally hard to see. Even if I were an expert on small mammals, it'd be hard to say conclusively.

I vote Loch Ness Monster.

P.S. Maybe you should take a video, post it on YouTube or whatnot to show us. It's easier to recognize things when you can see how they move; it can even help offset a low quality camera.

yeah it looks like shrew or maybe a mole but moles don't like the light a lot. so i'll say it's a shrew.

tho knowing where you lived and a better picture would be more helpful

i'm pretty sure it's not a mouse tho, doesn't look like any mouse i've seen before

Hello sir, I am Sgt. Suiseiseki IRL with the Internet Police. I pulled you over for SPARTA'ing prior to one proclaiming that the situation was madness. Your ticket will cost you 500 internets or 12 hours of community service.

Have a nice day Mr. HG.

OT: It looks like a mole to me, though I can't really tell with the picture quality.

I think an even better question is how the hell did you manage to take a picture WITHOUT USING YOUR HANDS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Unidentifiable rodent thing, floating ghost camera..... this is just too much for me.

Make it bite you. Then tell us what powers have you gained.

If its super- digging its a mole.
