Hi all,

I'm currently saving up for a deposit to rent my first (non-student) flat - about £500, and should be finished by about October time. While checking my balance this morning, I started wondering how many other people are putting off short-term fun for something they really, really want?

Are you saving up for something awesome? It'd be great to hear other people's stories - especially because sometimes it seems like I'm the only person being tight with money!

Doesn't matter how much you need to save up. "Big" is in the eye of the beholder. So let's hear it - what are you saving up for?

There are a couple games I plan to buy. I also need to buy some new contacts. Thinking of getting Lasik surgery at some point. That's about it. I already have a mortgage and all that.

I am starting off in Magic: The Gathering so I am paying $180 Australian or so for a bunch of fat packs to work out some useable decks (hopefully).

Other than that in a couple of months a friend is having an 18th so we are all hiring a houseboat and cruising around fora few days with drinks.

Rage, Dead Island, BF3, Arkham City, Skyrim, Metro: Last Night.

And I'm trying to save for a trip to Las Vegas at the end of next year >_>

My monthly expenses are utterly minimal, so saving happens quick enough. I can either continue to amass funds as I've been doing for a while, or drop some of it on a new T.V which I don't really need (More of an upgrade than a necessity). I do have around $700 worth of preorders set up for the next 10 months or so, but that's all I really have planned for purchases.

A big ass computer for CGI and Gaming and a used motorcycle for cruising Vancouver's (nearly) annually snow free streets. This will all put me out of making any other non essential purchases for a least a year. After that year is up, COLLEGE!

Gonna buy the cockpit and cabin section of a boing 747 from an airplane graveyard, truck it to my land and turn it into a house. Also, some hand picked stuff from the flood of games comeing out in the end quarter of this year.

I'm on the side of the job market that says they are allowed to pay me the bare minimum and I had best fucking like it because 20% of the county population is waiting in the wings for my job...

...that said games are "big" purchases and my next one is gonna be Deus Ex

Don't know if it's exactly a "big" purchase.
But once the 3DS discount hits Europe this Friday, I'll get one of those babies. :)

Dark's Souls CE, probably, unless Namco Bandai screw it up too much. Then Dark Souls once it hits $30.

(Is that on topic enough, mods?)
I find it entertaining that the mods on this forum are so tough that posters are always milking their posts for extra content to avoid being banned.
