Do you guys simply have an aesthetic that you generally always like? Personally I like the comic book style of art, in particular with deep lines and heavy contrast (a find a good example would be the wolf among us)

What about you guys? Any particular preferences or favorite mentions?

A tie between Tron and Space.

Tron because it's shiny and full of cool neon lighting and it makes being inside a computer and interacting with data look INCREDIBLE.

Space because in most games we've solved the whole interstellar travel thing. So if there's a faraway star that you're curious about, instead of waiting for the various science magazines and NASA to figure out the layout, you can just go there yourself. Hell, in vega strike, there's an explorers guild I've seen ads on the loading screen for that offer you money to do that. That's awesome. Any system, any planet, any sector of the galaxy, you can just go there. And then as if that wasn't enough, sometimes you get to blow up pirates when you get there. Or evil aliens or whatever.

I've always really liked Cel Shading. When it's done right it's like you're playing a cartoon and it's the kind of thing I always get a kick out of: It made things like Cel Damage seem more entertaining to me and of course, it's part of why I think Wind Waker still holds up today before the HD brush was put to it.

Anything anime, in particular BlazBlue for the flashy fighting moves and characters. Plus there's some hilarious stuff like this

That's legit ArcSys approved official promotional art by the way. They don't give a fuck. They preempt the incoming deluge of fanart with their own fanart. Fuckin' genius.

Also Katawa Shoujo for overall quality and cuteness, we go Hanako's route or we go home. Everyone else pales in comparison.

The new Ace Attorney is good, I got over the improved graphics almost instantly somehow. I loved those old sprites dammit. Could they not have ported the old Objection! across though? Phoenix had a brilliant one in his old games. Where are the mods when you need them?

Rich vibrant colours while still remaining grounded in reality. Witcher 2 is a good example. Very bright and colourful, but with nevertheless realistic and believable setting and character models.

I can't stand over-the-top character models. Impractical clothes or armour is one of my biggest peeves in games and I always roll my eyes when I see it, which is often. I need to believe that this character is dressed in such a way a person might actually be dressed in said situation, not parading around in a costume for the players benefit.

Well, I do love me some colorful and bright games, nothing really specific though. If there's one thing I can't really stand it's stupidly designed characters and bad animations. There's nothing that can put me off game faster than bad animations. I'm looking at you Prototype and Battlefield 3.
