Game, Shirt, Bong... what purchase this year brought you the greatest joy.

I'd have to say my Galaxy Player 4.0. It's not as shiny and probably not as capable as your average smart phone, but I already have a regular phone that is only good for calls and texts. And I like having my entertainment separate from something I might have to use in an emergency.

And I've seriously got a lot of bang out of this buck for the Galaxy player. It can has a ton of space with the micro SD reader. I get good wi-fi every where (Optimum Online wifi hot spots) and I just love it.

I don't know about my absolute favourite this year but this has to come pretty close:

Best. Skin. Ever. It costs like £20 or something but it is totally worth it. It somehow surpasses Gentleman Cho'Gath.

I'll preemptively say a new PC, probably around Christmas time so I can split the cost with someone. How bad can my laptop be you ask? It can decide to randomly camp a game of LoL at precisely 02 FPS and not move for the rest of the game. Enjoy your slideshow presentation. Don't even get me started on how it runs TF2...

I bought Dead Space in the steam Halloween sale and I am shocked that a massive coward like me can get so much enjoyment out of scaring myself shitless.

Although with that said it only gets there because the other game I got much earlier in the year was Bulletstorm and the memory of finding out it would not get a sequel despite being awesome has tainted the memory.

New GPU - Mobo combo, used to have an ATI RAdeon 5970 Black edition which died on me earlier this year, much to my dismay, then I find out that not only my GPU fried but it took my mobo with it. Was saving up for upgrades to liquid cooling and eventual upgrades, so I just said: screw it, I'm upgrading this damn rig right now.

Bought an MSI GTX 680 Lightning and, since everything else in my PC still worked fine, processor, ram, the works, I just went with a cheap mobo that could handle everything with the spare change.

Granted the 5970 was a beastly card, the driver support for it sucked horribly, every new release there'd be a fix that killed support for an older game, like Shogun 2 working at launch but then greeting me with horrible artifacting and fps dips after a few driver updates, same went for Crysis 2, Saints Row 3 was just unplayable with it's FPS goin all over the place and with BF3 it had this issue with the card that made the game progressively slower untill it crashed.

This is by far the best purchase I did all year, granted an expensive one, but from the get go it's given me no trouble as the previous card did, drivers have excellent game support and everything runs better than it did with the 5970.

My best purchase in terms of over-all value would probably be Star Wars the Old Republic:

This is a game my PC can't run and which is going to be free-to-play soon. So why would I buy it at all if I can't even play it? Well two reasons: the first being, I got that, which is pictured above brand new and sealed. The second being that I got it for $30 at K-Mart. Admittedly, I could have got it for about $45 on Amazon before shipping but I don't regret my purchase. I also got 2 copies of Tony Hawk Ride at the same K-Mart a couple of weeks later for $8. That is, I got two copies of Tony Hawk Ride with the skate-board peripheral on the X-360 new for $4 each (roughly $25 on amazon).

As for my favorite purchase this year...I've had a whole lot of fun with Theatrhythm and the various 3DS games I grabbed but...no, no my FAVORITE purchase from this year is my baby:

I got mine used and I didn't even realize the thing could go through yellowing before looking up images of them! I have been neglecting mine a little bit this past month but I've used it to beat Dragon Warrior, Zelda 2 and, re-visit 6-2 of Ninja Gaiden. The last time I played with it I did an embarrassing Adventure Island run (holy crap! I made it to level 2!!) and, made it to Dr. Wily himself in Mega Man 2...without any E-Tanks...dammit...

Does my Percussive Arts Society International Convention registration count? Because that whole convention was fantastic. If we're talking material goods, then I'd say that my two-tone marimba mallets that I bought there are pretty fantastic.

Probably my complete set of Transformers IDW Collection volumes. Pretty damn expensive at around ?40 per volume, but money well spent for a comic geek such as myself. :)

I bought myself a PS2 slim for 69 bucks.

Best addition for my gaming centric mancave since I build my gaming rig last year.

You actually don't know how hard this is for me to answer. I'm a Transformer collector, and I've actually bought quite a few bots this year. But, if I had to choose, I think I'd go with:

Reveal the Shield Wreck-Gar. Really, I'm a sucker for Motorcycle Transformers, and this guy is easily my favorite.

Aside from looking amazing and being crazy-poseable, he's got one hell of a gimmick: If you've got a Generations Junkheap (or really, any bot that has the same mold as Wreck-Gar), they're designed to be able to ride each other. In my book, that's kinda the best thing ever.

Other than my constantly expanding recording equipment set-up and general music stuff, I would say my recent purchase of the Baccano! box set, great series.

A train ticket... sounds dull but the reason its my favorite purchase is the train journey I took was to spend 2 weeks with all my uni friends I hadn't seen in about 2 years, was an amazing time, thus that little, seemingly insignificant purchase of a train ticket is my favorite this year

(Several) plane tickets to visit my girlfriend, who lives all across the continent :)

Best purchase by far
2nd. Dr. Mario for Gameboy
3rd. New Sennheiser headphones and a new iPod Touch

(I need those two things for the plane rides, else I can't sit still)

A Batman Justice League (New 52) replica action figure model thing, whatever it's called. Super stoked with it as I've always wanted one but only had the opportunity this year to get one.

My laptop, once again opening the world of PC gaming to me. Runs everything I throw at it without a hitch, even the newest games, and wasn't very expensive at all.
