Stardock.
If you don't know them, look it up.
Their games are good (GalCiv 1&2; technically, Sins of a Solar Empire and Demigod were developed by other companies. Stardock just published them), but best of all is their view on things like DRM and whatnot. Basically, Starkdock uses no DRM on the games they make. Also, they offer a full refund if you purchase a game and don't like the way it plays on your computer. AND, if you buy a retail version of one of their games you can register it with their downloader (Impulse) and download a digital copy free if you lose the CD.
Their ideology has earned a lot of derision from other developers, but their last game (Galactic Civilizations 2, which by the way had no DRM at all and does not require the CD to be in the drive to run) sold well over a million copies. Sure, it's easy as hell to pirate their games, but they're still turning a tidy profit and earning lots of PR points in the process.
In case you don't know, their latest in-house game, Elemental: War of Magic (a spiritual successor to Masters of Might and Magic), a 4x/RPG hybrid comes out August 24.
Edit: After them, definitely BioWare. At least it was before the EA buy out. I swear, they said that there would be no change after the buy-out; that EA was taking a Lassiez-Faire stance on them. But look at what they've given us since: Ads for Dragon Age set to Marilyn Manson songs; Mass Effect 2 being more shooter than RPG; and Now Dragon Age 2 sounds like it's trying to be Fable.
BioWare games have always been pre-order material, but now ME2 is the first BioWare game I decided not to buy and DA2 looks like it might be a pass as well. If they keep this up they're going to ruin the brand.
