Gaming podcasts have become a very popular thing over the past couple of years and I'd just like to know which one is your favourite and why? My favourite gaming podcast would have to be 4playerpodcast. They started off as a group of gamers from Texas who decided to make a podcast and gaming livestream on Justin.TV and have grown with their community vastly over the past couple of years. The podcast is both interesting and entertaining and so is their gaming livestream which is live every night.

So what is your favourite gaming podcast and why?

The Final Score
- Awesome personalities, mature discussion, good quality.

Critical Hit
- This is strictly a DnD podcast. A on-going DnD campaign to be specific. They have a really clever DM, and smart players. Great listen for old DnD players as well as people interested in DnD.

Not really into podcasts, but Steamcast is pretty good. I knew one of the hosts, Brad (Mimaz98 on the Steam forums), on the Steam forums before I asked the mods to ban me. Yeah, you can't close your forum account on Steam. Seriously! >:-(

I know this isn't the place to ask, but it's not a question worth starting a thread over.

How is one supposed to... engage... with podcasts? Are you meant to listen to them while you do something else, or do they actually expect you to sit there for half an hour/a whole hour listening to them?

I've never been able to get into them, because I always have something better to do.

Until it stopped due to members getting jobs on opposite sides of the country (I still don't know why they can't continue via Skype or something), the Idle Thumbs podcast was fantastic. It was a group of devs from different companies just getting together one night a week for some pizza and to talk vaguely game-related crap for a while. I reccomend listening to it's back catalogue of episodes, there was some great stuff.

I have an hour roundtrip to/from work each day, so I listen to them then. Also, when I'm doing the grocery shopping I listen while I look for my items. I also sometimes listen while I'm cooking dinner. It gives me time to hear quite a lot of podcasts over the course of a week.

Well if you always have something better to do then podcasts probably aren't for you. When I watch a podcast I have nothing else important to do and I am always fully engaged in the podcast.

I don't mean to imply that people who listen to them are wasting their time, it's just... I mean the Escapist podcast for example is an hour long. There are only 24 hours in the day, and that's one of them gone. Maybe I'm just too used to visual and auditory stimuli.

Well it all really depends on how busy you are within a day and picking the right time to listen to them. eg. Car journeys.

I love Roosterteeth. They don't exclusively talk about games on the podcast, otherwise it would be very short, but they give me pretty long podcasts, compared to the escapists, and usually hold my attention and are very interesting. However, if you are going to get into the podcast you might want to listen to older ones. Some, of their new ones have videos. You might also want to watch those first so you get a physical picture of who you are listening to. Its called the Drunk Tank Podcast if you don't know roosterteeth.

As I said earlier, listen while you're doing something else that doesn't require your ears, like driving to work, or grocery shopping, or cooking.

Sorry I missed your comment before. Yes, I can see podcasts being useful to break the monotony of long car trips and such. I just don't do much driving, so it did not occur to me.

I find shopping's a good time for podcasts. Just be aware that people will look strangely at the man laughing to himself in the frozen goods aisle.

The NEStalgia podcast. But I'm probably biased because I'm very much in love with the game and also have been on said podcast. /shrug

CREATURE TALK! This is my second-favourite podcast as it has so many epic people in one place. A Very entertaining podcast indeed. Just out of interest, who is your favourite creature? I like Nova the best because I think he is the funniest and I watched him before the other creatures.

Nova was the first for me as well. That's tough to choose. Nova and Spoon are my favorites. SSoH's Killing Floor vids are awesome though and Gassy can be hilarious with his voices.

Drunk Tank at Roosterteeth is the only one I listen to every week without fail. It helps they talk about a wide range of stuff, not just games. Their chats also remind of me and my mates, so I guess I'm the same "type" as the drunk tankees.
