I have a few that no one has heard of because it's a niche genre. Lots of DnB or dubstep artists no one has ever heard of, unless you listen to that sort of music.

I'd give Girls a try, but they are on NME. My general rule is to avoid anything within the NME. The NME is the music magazine equivalent of The Sun newspaper.

Lorene Drive

An interesting band, with a different take on the alternative genre.
There's hardly a good youtube vid, so I'll drop link to their myspace player [http://www.myspace.com/1767210/music-player?sindex=-1.0&shuffle=false&amix=false&pmix=false&plid=2077&artid=4609334&profid=1767210&friendid=1767210&sseed=0&ptype=3&stime=0&ap=1&rpeat=false]

Sounds sorta like a UK Indie version of Fall Out Boy. I like it! The other one, not so much.

OT: I'm gonna go with The Polyphonic Spree, RJD2 and Rodrigo Y Gabriela.

Rodrigo Y Gabriela played at Latitude and Glasto this year, so more people know about them, but I listened to them when they were small.

Edit: I actually prefer this track of RJD2's. Don't know why I used "Work It Out", even though its awesomesauce too

This is probably because one of their songs is on the end credits of Mass Effect.

For me,it's Murder By Death. I'm not sure if they're little known or not, but no-one I know has heard of them.

La Dispute

The music is great and the lyrics are probably the best I've ever heard.
Quite depressing if you listen to loads at once though.

Ever heard of a 90s ska/punk/(kinda) hardcore band called Five Iron Frenzy? I don't blame you, they broke up 6 years ago, but man, they were awesome.

Girls - not bad. A bit quiet for my tastes, but definitely not bad background music.

Small band from around here, called Dirty Magic. Look them up on Last.fm; they're kinda.. alternative metal.

Cage the Elephant, they did the opening song for Borderlands: Ain't No Rest for the Wicked, and their other stuff is good too.

I've heard of Death from Above although only really because of the CSS song "Lets Make Love and Listen to Death From Above" and because they were sampled in the Crystal Castles song Untrust Us.

Elbow, know them, don't like them. I was very disapointed that the rest of their music sounds nothing like Grounds for Divorce which is a real shame.

As for me? Heartsrevolution aren't very well known at all, good pop/dance music. Should have their first full length album this year if they can ever be bothered to get up off their arse and stop pissing around trying to make a crystal encrusted icecream van (seriously).

You Love Her Cos She's Dead, so desperately trying to be Crystal Castles cira 2008 but it's still enjoyable enough and full of enough glitchy synth noises that I can dance to it so all is good. No album yet, only EPs.

HEALTH, actually not that obscure. Just not mainstream or very well recognised at least not in the UK. Did the Crimewave track with Crystal Castles. (I love Crystal Castles!)

Coincidently nothing to do with this. Duloks - Red Wizard Needs Food Badly. The song was written about Gauntlet so no one is ripping anyone off, it's just a strange coincidence.

Not... that great a video... actually.
