What is your opinion on Airsoft?

I play airsoft on an amateur Mil-Sim (military simulation)and I love it but I am annoyed when ever I tell people i play airsoft and they just think it is childish. If i told these people i played paintball they would not think it was childish. I have talked to people who do both and they only get flak when they tell people about airsoft.


I do not see why airsoft is not as respectable as paintball?

I don't find it nearly as fun as paintball.
I've tried and i don't find it appealing but I can understand why some do. However, I still don't understand how one determines who is eliminated in a game of airsoft. Paintball by the way, is not often viewed as anymore mature than airsoft. Like videogames, both activities are often misconstrued as intended for children alone.

most of the time you can see the bb bounce off and the person flinch. but if you feel you are hit then you call it so it is a game of trust.

Of the two, I much prefer airsoft. It has a gun that I can actually aim with a degree of certainty without having to fire off a half dozen shots.

My friend plays it and he's told me about it a lot, like what the matches are like, what sort of equipment you need, how much it costs and that sort of stuff. I honestly don't find it too appealing, mostly because of how costly it sounds.

War is about killing the enemy but in airsoft i do not want to kill my friends i play with.

also i play airsoft for the same reason i play games to have fun.

I like Paintball more, simply because it feels (and looks from a spectator point of view) like more of a sport rather than a glorified war game, this could be the reason? although I do like Airsoft too! The guns seem more realistic and stuff, but I just prefer the more fast paced style of Paintball!

I really like Airsoft over Paintball. It's a bit less painful, and everything is cheaper and looks cooler.

Different strokes for different folks. I've played both, but I've given up on paintball. My personal experiences with Paintballers have not been pleasent ones. They've costed my group a free field do to their carelessness, negligence and generally poor attitudes. Another professional field we go to has 2 fields dedicated to Paintballers simply because they continually trash the airsoft fields and leave tons of waste out. It's messy, cumbersome and unsportsmanlike.

I much prefer Airsoft, the guns are better designed, easier to maintain, don't produce as much waste, are more realisitc, fire farther & more accurately and come in a plethora of variaties. It's also cheaper in the long run with lower ammo and supply costs. The upfront costs of the equipment and guns tend to scare most people off; which can be a good thing.

I do have to say though even with Airsoft you get a mixed bag of people. Some are legitametly trying to push Airsoft into a respected sport and I applaud their efforts. Others tend to be a little "too into it" and often ostrasize new players in various ways and/or make grudge wars against other sporters (primarily paintballers). And then there folks like me, that enjoy it as a sport and hobby, yet another way to hang out with friends and get a little workout in a forest.

I enjoy it and intend to keep playing it for as long as I can. Now if only I could get more games in... /sadface

I've been airsofting for the past 2 years and love it. For me I kind of enjoy the realism it brings with replica guns and being tactical. Luckily the place I go to is low on the amount of small children that go so games can actually be enjoyable with some degree of strategy. I actually had a game where these kids were having a birthday party at the arena, all of them looked around 12-14, and most if not all just ran around like crazy spraying bbs everywhere. Now of course the honor system in airsoft is flawed so I purposely upgrade the spring on my guns to make sure the person is gonna make a noise when I hit them. It's kind of a dick move, but it's honestly necessary sometimes.

alright, I'll specify. i dont care for either, mainly cause I dont get the thrill. I can see where some people would, but I just live dangerous, so I dont. my problem isnt with the games (I've played, and with friends, I can have fun with both, but we usually make it tougher then the average game), but with the people who 9while this doesnt represent everyone, so dont tink it does, please its not meant to) get overconfident and talk themselves up like because they're good it makes them on par with an actual soldier. yes, they're a small group, but also thery're usually the most vocal. yes its hypocritical to make my opinion based on that, but i get tired of it after growing up in a military family, especially with an uncle who was in 'Nam, and even today gets spit at for it. but I'm getting off topic.

Point being, i dont have a prblem with (edit) the game itself. I really dont. I jsut have a problem witht hat vocal minority of people who ruin the image of the majority. and that turns me off to the whole affair.

All right but that's your opinion of Airsoft players not Airsoft as a game in itself. It's not the vocal minority that bothers me, rather the vocal minority of people hating on it on youtube. Seriously, look at the comments on youtube on most airsoft videos, it's got to be the most trolled thing ever on there.

It's just.. I don't even. They're fucking toy guns, people go in knowing this.. We don't give a fuck that you've got a Ruger .22 and a Remington 870 and that it fires bullets/shot, OK? OKAY!?

oka. I'll start by sayign this, I dont think that you should join or you're any less of a person cause its not real. i can get behind that, its fine to shoot something with something that wont hurt it (as long as both parties consent). regardless of what is aid above (cause thats really just my answer to the vocal minority).

My problem with the game is I just find it boring. now when I my freinds and I play, its more fun. We dont play in an arena, we play outside, and we play dangerous. We're not afraid to just shoot each other in eye, or even an execution style shot. You're in it to win it, there's no wussing out. But thats just us, and because of that, its made the game boring.

and like i said with paintball, I just cant get excited when I can cheat and bring a trashcan lid and a bucket of paint to throw at people. Just cause I find the later being far more entertaining then shooting someone with a pellet of paint.
