So I was thinking today, what is the best way to sum up my set of beliefs on how I should live my life and I came up with. 'Good people deserve to be happy, so do everything you can to make good people happy'.

This led me to wonder what everyone else's beliefs are? So now is your chance to profess your beliefs or take a closer look at them.

By beliefs I mean, religious beliefs, scientific beliefs, anything you live your life by.

I like your set of beliefs.

One thing that often proved useful (file that under "scientific beliefs"):
If anything sounds inconclusive, or does not seem to fit into your understanding of the world, try to find out as much as you can about it. Either you find out it was made up and is nothing to worry about, or you extend your understanding of the world.

Not really good at expressing myself but here it goes:

Wake up and be glad to be alive. No matter what kinds of shit happens to you during the day, remember: shit always happens to everyone.

That's all I got. NEXT!

I have a couple of rules or commandments I try to follow.

- Don't be a dick
- Always strive towards your ultimate goal
- Maintain dignity and confidence
- If you're not good enough, get good enough

I don't have any religious views, though I do think there are principles in any religion which are beneficial to society as a whole. That's why I believe religion deserves a place among humans. However, ultimately, I put my beliefs into empirical science.

Pretty strict atheist but not averse to ideas of higher powers, just ones that have scientific explanations. (Highly evolved intelligences with technology/innate abilities indistinguishable from magic/Godliness.)

My general philosophy is best said by a comedian called Tim Minchin.

"I am a tiny, insignificant, ignorant bit of carbon, i have one life, and it is short and unimportant, but thanks to recent scientific advances; i get to live twice as long as my great great great great uncleses and auntses. Twice as long!"

Spiritual beliefs: I believe in the infinite power of the universe. IE, the collective consciousness of all things = God. After dying, we return to the universe, and become part of the whole cosmic scheme once more.

Societal beliefs: Do unto other as you would have them do with you. It's the only fair way to live. That said, humanity is full of dicks, and if someone proves to be one of them, then you need not waste your respect on them.

Life beliefs: I live for fun, and to help others enjoy their lives as well. My life goal is to enjoy myself as much as possible before I croak.

My motto: Do what you can, and take what you can get. Go full force, have no regrets. Also, when life gives you lemons, retaliate with limes!

My personal beliefs: Honour, Loyalty, Chivalry.
I hate seeing people get hurt or betrayed, people who are alone. Chivalry isn't dead, it's just not very common at all.
I'm an Atheist, believing in more scientific explanations, though I don't find the theory of ghosts to be too implausible, just the main theory that it follows (an unresting soul)...though that is the only explanation I can think of right now.
Oh, and another thing I live by: No matter how hard it gets, if you love someone, never ever give up on them.

I'm agnostic. Now, before anyone thinks that's just another way to say that I'm an atheist, I wanna explain what I mean. I think that it is just as impossible to prove that God doesn't exist as it is to prove that he does. I don't really care about any religions, though I do feel that they have a very real tendency to be used to negative ends, whether intentional or not on a larger scale. That doesn't mean I'm against religion on the whole. I feel that on a personal level religion can do a lot of good. Giving hope and redemption to people. Of course, even if God does exist, I think he might not exist in any way that we think or him. He might not even know we exist. We might be a kind of lucky cosmic accident that occurred while he was creating things.

No matter how bad you have it, there is always someone out there who has it worse than you. Crap happens, and how we cope with it is what defines us. Just because there are assholes in the world doesn't give you license to become one.

Those are the basics, I suppose.

I'm an Atheist. I try to be respectful to other people's beliefs though. I never try impose my beliefs on religious people, but if they question my faith I will challenge theirs. Fortunately this doesn't happen often, as I do not know any religious people. The UK has quite a high percentage of atheists compared to other countries. I try to avoid confrontation over religion, but I enjoy debating it with friends. It's a shame that all my friends are Atheists too... the debates aren't very enlightening.

I'm polite and kind to people I meet, because that is the way I would like to be treated. I know it's a religious thing but it also makes perfect sense to act like this. Apart from this I don't really have any personal philosophies. I am a quiet and sometimes cynical person, but I enjoy my life and the few friends that I have. I guess my goal in life is to just have fun. I don't feel any pressure to achieve success or do anything meaningful, so I'm just gonna do what makes me happy.

Not too big on religion. I don't completely discredit religion, I just don't quite buy into it.

"Faith is a gift I have yet to receive." - Robert Langdon.

Aside from that, I'm very easy going. I try my hardest to see the best in people, even when there's not much there to see. I'm a nice guy. I'm very polite when meeting and talking to new people; I don't see the point in being a dick.

Yea, that about sums me up. Rather boring, I know.

We are all the product of a dead star. Which lead to the creation our sun, the planets and most of the elements in our solar system. Which, in time, lead to the begining of life.

So, we are all part of one entity, which is constantly meeting itself, over, and over again.

That said, DON'T BE A DICK TO YOURSELF!

defend what you love
fight for your dreams
keep your honor
allways look to improve yourself
listen to both sides of an arguement before you take one
being shy will only hold you back
and lastly if your going to fight do it for the right reasons

my beliefs do rotate around the idea of a warrior's code of honor

and in the words of musashi miyamoto the greatest swordsman to walk this earth

"respect buddha and the gods without relying on them"

I'm an agnostic too, and I agree with everything you said. I do believe that God is real in some form however... not necessarily as a divine entity, but as a social construct at least.

"What's wrong with being mediocre? If you can go through life with a smile on your face every day, you've got it made"

Basically that. So long as you're happy with your own life it's ok. You don't have to be famous or talented so long as you're happy with the life you live.

?I can believe that things are true and I can believe things that aren?t true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they?re true or not. I can believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles and Elvis and Mister Ed. Listen ? I believe that people are perfectible, that knowledge is infinite, that the world is run by secret banking cartels and is visited by aliens on a regular basis, nice ones that look like wrinkledy lemurs and bad ones who mutilate cattle and want our water and our women. I believe that the future sucks and I believe that future rocks and I believe that one day White Buffalo Woman is going to come back and kick everyone?s ass. I believe that all men are just overgrown boys with deep problems communicating and that the decline in good sex in America is coincident with the decline in drive-in movie theaters from state to state. I believe that all politicians are unprincipled crooks and I still believe that they are better than the alternative. I believe that California is going to sink into the sea when the big one comes, while Florida is going to dissolve into madness and alligators and toxic waste. I believe that antibacterial soap is destroying our resistance to dirt and disease so that one day we?ll all be wiped out by the common cold like the Martians in War of the Worlds. I believe that the greatest poets of the last century were Edith Sitwell and Don Marquis, that jade is dried dragon sperm, and that thousands of years ago in a former life I was a one-armed Siberian shaman. I believe that mankind?s destiny lies in the stars. I believe that candy really did taste better when I was a kid, that it?s aerodynamically impossible for a bumblebee to fly, that light is a wave and a particle, that there?s a cat in a box somewhere who?s alive and dead at the same time (although if they don?t ever open the box to feed it it?ll eventually just be two different kinds of dead), and that there are stars in the universe billions of years older than the universe itself. I believe in a personal god who cares about me and worries and oversees everything I do. I believe in an impersonal god who set the universe in motion and went off to hang with her girlfriends and doesn?t even know that I?m alive. I believe in an empty and godless universe of casual chaos, background noise, and sheer blind luck. I believe that anyone who says that sex is overrated just hasn?t done it properly. I believe that anyone claims to know what?s going on will lie about the little things too. I believe in absolute honesty and sensible social lies. I believe in a woman?s right to choose, a baby?s right to live, that while all human life is sacred there?s nothing wrong with the death penalty if you can trust the legal system implicitly, and that no one but a moron would ever trust the legal system. I believe life is a game, that life is a cruel joke, and that life is what happens when you?re alive and that you might as well lie back and enjoy it.? - Samantha Black Crow, American Gods by Neil Gaiman

This kinda sums it up neatly.
