What kind of gamer are you? Like, what consoles do you use most, what games do you play, and are you any good at them? Let's not start any wars here, by the way.

I'm usually playing my Mac, DS, or Wii. Now, the Mac might be looked down upon as a system, but the new library of Valve games is great, and it allows me not to have to save up for, say, Alienware. I have most of the Valve FPSs, but I stick to Half-Life 2, Portal, and TF2, which is the only online competitive shooter I play. I suck at most others, but I'm pretty decent as pyro. Meanwhile, on the console end, I'm a big-time Nintendo guy. Mario is my favorite franchise, and Super Mario Galaxy is something I see as a near-perfect game. I also occasionally play an older Gamecube game, like Windwaker or Paper Mario: Thousand year door. Any non spin-off Nintendo game, with the exception of Mario Kart, is one I have. Hardcore Nintendo fanboy, that's me, though I don't have any opposition to casual gamers.
The DS is my platform for RPGs. Pokemon, Dragon quest, the works. I like having something with me at all times to level grind with. And, I am a big fan of Professor Layton, having owned all three games.
Skill wise, I'm okay. I can go up to medium on guitar hero, I game I like but also resent for starting an over saturation of music games, and I've beaten Luigi's purple coins along with Mr. Sandman on Punch Out!!! for the Wii (With the Wiimote. TKO.) I've actually made it pretty hard on cluster-f*&k difficult games like Guitaroo Man and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

So, how 'bout you?

Mainly Nintendo, as I have a Wii and DS, but will sometimes plays on my friends Xbox if I can.

Currently, I'm going through the mirror mode on DKCR and am starting to look into the RPGS that are available on the DS, besides Pokemon, I've been with that since the beginning.
So Hardcore Nintendo fanboy, just like you OP.

Eclectic.
I play PC, own all the consoles, and have enjoy games for all ages.
I'll also play really old games, as my recent Daggerfall addiction has shown (that game is from the year I was born, and it's still amazing!)

I play the PC more than consoles, although usually only one game: World of Warcraft.
Literally thousands of hours on that game.

As for consoles, I too am a Nintendo fan, preferring my DS and Wii.

As my avatar and like 3/4ths of my posts on this site may suggest, I am a rabid Fire Emblem fangirl. Last time I checked I had about 300 hours on Radiant Dawn, and I've beaten almost all of the other games at least twice, at least once on their hardest difficulties.

My DS is pretty much a Pokemon+Zelda+Fire Emblem:SD machine.

I very rarely play the Xbox360. Sometimes the Playstation for things such as Disgaea and Final Fantasy.

My favorite genre is Turn-Based Strategy, with JRPG close behind.
My least favorite genre is either FPS or Sports/Racing.

I am terrible at RTS games and Sports/Racing.
I consider myself skilled at Turn-Based Strategy.

I enjoy cranking up the difficulty.

Yay.

I don't think I fit into any specific categories, I regularly play games on PC, Xbox 360, Wii and DS and I play a variety of genres both new and old.

The only consoles I play are xbox and PC, and I generally dont play FPS or RTS games, in fact my idea of a good game is a OCD-inspiring RPG (think Diablo) or a big sandbox like RDR or Just Cause 2 (for some recent examples).
To me gaming is about escapism through immersion in another world/life, and so skill based games (especially COD or Halo) dont hold my interest.

PC. Since my first i386 powered PC to my current self-build rig. I play anything and everything that comes on the pc. I'm not a genre fanboy. I enjoy any game that had a certain degree of originality to it. I do own an xbox 360 but it's just gathering dust in the living room.

Nice thread topic. I play PC and PS mostly. Growing up I was a Nintendo fanboy. I even tried hanging in there with them through the N64 but that is when the Playstation temptress lured me in. Since then, as far as consoles go, I personally prefer PS. Thought this is also when I first came into PC gaming thanks to Civ 1 getting me hooked on SNES and then all sequels have been on PC. My PC has conquered most of my gaming time since with a lot of time also spent on the playstation. I had a small affair with the first Xbox due to enjoying its controllers for shooters and quickly found that most of the titles Xbox was carrying wasn't to my tastes.

I haven't messed around with Nintendo for years. Nintendo is kind of like an old nanny that raised me but I just don't have much need for her current services now days. I like to go back and revisit old memories (fav. old IPs) and even visit her from on rare occasion (New IPs) but for the most part she stays in my past.

PC is like my wife, and Playstation is that irresistible slut I keep messing around with on the side because my wife is getting old and I need to trade her in for a new one soon.

I play mainly Xbox 360, but I am slowly shifting towards the PC because of my quite newly discovered love for RTS games. I also loved the Witcher which I recently completed, probably looking to get more games like that.

So as mentioned above, I enjoy strategy and RPGs, but also shooters. I enjoy shooters with company as just grinding FFA is boring as hell. I am quite competetive, so I really need to play a good shooter every now and then to get a few wins. Winning in strategy games might feel more rewarding, but I am quite rubbish at them.

In addition to being competetive, I also love good stories. That is why RPGs are on the list. My favorite franchise has to be Mass Effect, purely because of story and characters.

PC gamer. I had a PS1 and an xbox, but I just never made the leap to the next gen consoles, and having just spent too much money on a new pc that'll see me through to the next generation of games I've very little interest in returning to consoles.

Skill wise I only ramp up the difficulty on games I really really like - I'll play Doom on Ultraviolence and Civilisation II on Deity, but most titles I'll go with default/normal.

After two or three years of MMOs I rediscovered single player gaming last year, so I've got a lot of catching up to do. I don't have as much time for gaming as I used to so I find I'm more drawn to FPS or sandbox titles rather than big, long RPGs. A big backlog, limited time and a short attention span means I tend to jump from game to game. Currently it's mainly Crysis, Just Cause 2 and Dragon Age, though DA is coming very close to getting kicked onto the back shelf if it keeps casually slaughtering me with random packs of wolves.

I play pretty much exclusivley on PS3 now (Had a 360 but it broke.)
I enjoy most game genres, but my favourite (at the moment at least) would be a toss up between fighting games and RPGs.
Skill wise I think I'm pretty average, I very rarely play games on anything higher than normal.

my main consoles are any nintendo platform since the gamecube/gameboy colour, and all the playstations. in terms of games, i tend to play RPGs and strategy games the most, the only fighter i own is soulblade and i have very few other genre's in my collection. overall, my skill is lacklustre, i'm pretty good on brawl, i can win a few matches online, but i'm not fantastic at it, and at most other games, i'm not very good, most of the time, i'm good enough to finish the campaign, but after that, i don't tend to get any better, if i even get that far (there are a few games i own that i'm still not even close to beating)

i also play a fair few games on the PC, but again, it's almost purely strategy, i have a few RPGs for it, but it's mostly strategy games

I play everything but the PC. If the game is multiplatform, I pick it up for the PS3. However, I also pick up the 360 exclusives. If a game looks interesting to me, I play it, regardless of system. Unless, as stated above, it's on the PC. I simply cannot get the control scheme down, and my computer can't handle modern games I believe.

I play on everything except Mac and Xbox. I'm not terribly brand loyal (although, for obvious reasons, I have some nostalgic memories of the Nintendo consoles).

I alternate between my PC and my Gamecube (my youngest console >_>) a fair bit but I love playing on a PS3. Too bad my Dad won't let me have his.

360, Wii, and PS3 here. I have a Macbook Pro that I didn't buy for gaming, but have a few on it (KotOR, TF2, Portal, World of Goo, and a few others that came packaged with other games that I haven't really messed with).

The Wii is no N64 (I don't care how much is on the Virtual console. It is incomplete until Donkey Kong 64 is on there), but it does have plenty of games I love.

The 360 I basically got for Mass Effect, but I play most of my games on it.

I just got the PS3 (for a really good deal) a few weeks ago and have been loving it so far. I just finished God of War (the first one) for the first time. I'm about to play Ratchet and clank.

I play all kinds of games on all consoles except PC. I'm pretty good at everything, but not great.
I play mostly on my 360 online with friends. I like to sink a hell of a lot of time into JRPGs on my DS. Single player games I usually play on my PS3. I pretty much only play the Wii with friends IRL. I only play flash games on my PC, while I'm watching TV.
I don't play much though. I've almost stopped altogether actually. I prefer TV.

Mostly online PC games of all types.

But I do love a good single player adventure or RPG to sink my teeth into on the xbox 360. Most RPG's I play are on the PS2 though, It has the best.

I also LOVE handhelds, especially the gameboy advance. Golden sun and breath of fire on the move for the win <3

I had an earlier thread where I settled on the term "Enthusiastic" gamer. I like all kinds of video games, I'm not especially proficient at any particular genre, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the experience of gaming.
