Although I have never been in a fraternity, I have undergone many initiations from various jobs. My first one working at a cheese factory in which my co-workers picked me up and threw me in a salt brine (large tub filled with water and salt, for the cheese) which was located in a cooler room. Another one was when I worked at a shipping company where I loaded trailers with packages. People who would sort the packages that would go to my trailer would dump lotion on one side of the box so when you picked it up, you would have this random smelly goop all over you.

What kind of initiations have you undergone at your first time at a job and/or frat or sorority?

Jesus, I hope nothing like that happens at my new job, it involves radiation... I want kids one day!

Also no, I've never been through any "initiation" I'm usually as anti-social as possible. Aslong as no one bothers me, no one needs to die.

I never understand these things. In England I've never had to undertake or have even witnessed any sort of initiation. Maybe it's because we really just don't give enough of a shit to waste effort on something like that.

Or maybe I've just managed to avoid where that kind of thing happens.

At this old fish and chips/burger joint I worked at all new employees had to eat a huge piece of cheese wrapped in bacon then double battered and deep fried. That may sound delicious but in a 100 degree kitchen even a single bite makes the rest of your work day just miserable and sluggish. Some people got to choose between that and a french fry and hamburger milk shake.(HORRIFYING)

One company I was supposed to work for, one interestingly run by an American who had been through the Frat system, had some sort of childish initiiation concept.

I was told about it by someone who worked there that was a friend, and I asked during my interview if it had been banned and those involved fired yet.. the boss said no, so I declined his kind offer.

Initiation rituals have no place, in anything.. not a school, college, armed force or regular job. They are childish and pathetic. Right up there beside putting a "No Girl Cooties" sign up outside your clubhouse.

I found it kind of fun. They mention it many times before it happens, if you don't want it done to you they respect that. They may be childish but as long as it doesn't cause harm, not done regularly (only once), and they are not done against a persons will, then I don't see the problem in it. I got to know the people really well who did these things, we are still good friends

The closest I've ever come to an initiation has been new job orientation and having to go through CBLs(Computer Based Learning Modules) that mostly consisted of things I already knew and couldn't skip through. With my latest job it took me two and a half work days (about twelve hours or so) to go through them all.
