So I am completing my degree in the next few months, and was really wanting to go travelling. I don't care where, and thats where you thread jockeys come into play. Tell me your general area of residence (no address' please, that will make my parole officer shit) and something that is neat or makes that place stand out from others.

For example :

I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. What makes my hometown intersting is that considering we are in the middle of the prairies, we needed a ski hill for recreation purposes (B.C is far away). To accomplish this, we stacked a lot of garbage, enough so to create a mountain, then covered it in soil. So to this day, we have a garbage mountain which people skii on every winter.

The most interesting story may very well persuade me enough to actually visit next spring, so begin the tourist marketing!

Hmm...I'm not sure I like the idea of a crazed backwoods serial killer stalking our town. But okay :p

We've got stones! Grey stones! Lot's of em', beaches full! Hence why we're called Greystones -_-.

This is in Ireland by the way. Down on the South-East coast. But, Ireland's a pretty good place to visit in general. You've got the Burren, The Aran Islands, Lot's of old Forts around the place. Monasteries and such. And the ugh, the Gaeltacht, that's where everyone speaks Irish...I didn't like it, but some people have said they had fun there. It's usually just students there.

Come to jolly old England!

Everyone drinks tea, eats crumpets, it pisses it down constantly and the people are all xenophobic about immigrants even though they can't see it through their perspective. Also, teenage stabbings are abundant and I saw one happen once. As you can tell I'm patriotic. *

I'll be in London in less than a week, I'll tell you how I found it.

Anyway, I live in Calgary, Alberta. What makes Calgary interesting... we have some pretty good restaurants, one bar in the city serves a house brew of godlike awesomeness, The Glenbow is an alright museum, and we're fairly safe if you're not a member of a gang.

I live in holland and we are the tallest people on earth. And most of our land is about 7 meters under sea level and it was a dutch man who invented the way to make chocolate as we know it. And Vincent van Gogh as well as Rembrandt where Dutch. and we were also the first European country to trade with Japan.

and since Holland is not a big country I find it's my general area of residence :p

Seattle, WA, USA

The Space Needle
Ted Bundy
The Green River Killer
Starbucks (that right, it started here and we plagued the world with them)
Experience Music Project
Mt. Rainier & Mt. St. Helens
Olympic National Forest (the only temperate zone rain forest in the world)
Floating Bridges on Lake Washington (pontoons float the bridges on the water)
Olympic View Sculpture Park
The Fremont Troll
The Narrows Bridge (you all know it, it's the one that waves like crazy before crumbling under the pressure) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mclp9QmCGs

I'm probably missing stuff cool stuff, but that's the best I can do at the moment.

I am taking a few liberties with the distance of some of these things from Seattle proper, but once you are here everything listed is pretty close.

Where I live there is a vandal that adds a level of charm to the town. He is constantly changing "no turn on red" signs to "no turn on fred" and changing gaylor avenue to gaylord avenue. His best work is a sign some hippie put up that says "war is not the answer" underneath which he wrote "wait, what was the question?"

The great thing about Louisiana is nothing. Maybe New Orleans around Mardi Gras, but you're honestly not missing out on too much else. Skip it and either go to Miami in Florida or Cancun, Mexico.

Plus, it's hurricane season locally. Keep an eye out for Gustav, if I disappear forever around Tuesday, then you guys know what happened to me.

Shortly thereafter, keep an eye out for Hurricane NewClassic.

actually it was for the commonwealth winter games, i think tho i forget which ones for sure tho, it was 25 years ago tho

as for me, my city has a few interesting things

1 Col John McRae was born and lived here for most of his life
2 the law allowing women to go topless started here when a girl walked down the street topless, she got arrested and challenged it and took the case to the supreme court and they said she was legally allowed to do it
3 the best micro-almost-craft brewery in canada is here
4 we have a smaller scale of Notre Dame here, doesn't look totally like it cause they ran out of money
5 we're the home of the Great Orbax

Just wear a stab proof vest. Also, everyone in London barges into everyone else because they have the pathetic knowledge of thinking they're more important than slice bread. Everyone is exceedingly impolite. The London Underground is a claustrophobe's worst nightmare and is too bloody hot in summer. Chavs are copious and are the most worthy of all my hatred. The food tastes like burnt hair and shite and is overpriced. The pollution there is so bad it turns your bogeys black as well.

Enjoy! (Note: I have been there plenty of times to form this judgement)

I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee in the USA. Tennessee has a lazy, winding river and miles of streams full of almost three hundred species of freshwater fish, not to mention amphibians galore. We're one of the most diverse places in the world for freshwater fish and amphibians outside of the tropics. We also have beautiful, worn-down old mountains, some of the oldest in the world. People are polite and charming, for the most part.
