I never used to cry in movies, shows, or the like. There were times I would get really emotional, one of the most memorable of which was the infamous scene halfway through Final Fantasy VII, but never did tears actually come out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks.
Then a friend got me to watch Clannad, a romance/comedy/drama anime that I later found out is rather famous for making anyone and everyone cry, and is based on a visual novel that is also notorious for the same thing. This show made me cry like never before, putting me into a perpetual state of tears (both happy and sad at times) for pretty much the entire last half of the second and final season.
Afterwards, I was broken: all the sudden I was tearing up left and right. Any emotional situation in a movie, show, or video game would come dangerously close to making the tears flow.
So I ask you, Escapists: did you have a particular story (be it a film, show, game, book, or anything else) that broke your tear barrier and made you cry more easily? What was it?
Also, please keep this spoiler-free (or at least put spoilers in spoiler tags). It's no fun for readers if they have the sad moments spoiled for them.
