What Movie/Book/Show/Game "Broke" You?

I never used to cry in movies, shows, or the like. There were times I would get really emotional, one of the most memorable of which was the infamous scene halfway through Final Fantasy VII, but never did tears actually come out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks.

Then a friend got me to watch Clannad, a romance/comedy/drama anime that I later found out is rather famous for making anyone and everyone cry, and is based on a visual novel that is also notorious for the same thing. This show made me cry like never before, putting me into a perpetual state of tears (both happy and sad at times) for pretty much the entire last half of the second and final season.

Afterwards, I was broken: all the sudden I was tearing up left and right. Any emotional situation in a movie, show, or video game would come dangerously close to making the tears flow.

So I ask you, Escapists: did you have a particular story (be it a film, show, game, book, or anything else) that broke your tear barrier and made you cry more easily? What was it?

Also, please keep this spoiler-free (or at least put spoilers in spoiler tags). It's no fun for readers if they have the sad moments spoiled for them.

The Crowning Moment of Heartwarming pages on TVTropes.

...Yeah, it's positive things instead of sad things, but it did have the same effect; it's made me cry a little more easily (when, before, I publicly displayed roughly the same amount of emotion as Rei Ayanami). Though I still refuse to cry in front of other people, I do choke up slightly when listening to the last part of the Firebird Suite on my ipod.

Lion King made me cry when I was a kid... Not when Mufasa died. But when Scar died.

Also, Click, when he's lying on the ground dying and suddenly he's realising too late that he's been fucking everyhting up. THat got to me for some inexplicable reason. Twice.

<url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.231661>Snow Angels really did do this to me. Watching things now that never used to affect me emotionally now do, and in a strong way.

FFVI, just after the world was destroyed and Celes finds herself on an island. Her attempted suicide had me in tears.

Not to beat a dead horse even further, though if you went along with the entire Warcraft lore with the birth and death of Arthas/The Lich King...

Eh. All subjective. The final video however had me almost in tears.

Really? Jurassic Park I can kind of see, but Futurama? How did that work?

EDIT: Never mind. I'm an idiot: I remember now. My bad.

Yeah, it was weird how that movie made a 180 degree turnaround about halfway through, going from a typical Adam Sandler comedy to a rather heartwrenching drama near the end. Crazy stuff...

Jurassic Bark. It's an episode of Futurama. Watch it and you'll see what we mean by breaking you.
Yeah, it was my bad, and I edited in as much. I do remember that episode... That was sad...

The ending of that episode will not only break you but shatter you.

What really broke me was Elfen Lied, the manga version. I don't think it is possible to make a story any more tragic.

Oh gosh, yes.

"Mommy, why are they burying daddy? He said he has a lot of work to do... he still has so much work to do, tell them to stop!"

Nothing has ever broken me, except making me cry. Nothing made me cry more easily though.

Then I highly recommend Clannad. Then you'll have something to post about. :p Seriously, that's what everyone has said before I tell them to watch this... only one person so far has managed to keep it together.
