In my life so far I've encountered pretty much a trio of authors that I love again and again. These would come down to be.
Charles Bukowski: He was the first author that I was introduced to that I really fell in love with. Between his endless cynicism about humans you will then get these charming nuggets of optimism that say "Hey it isn't all that bad after all," (ex. The poem Let It Enfold You). These little optimistic things are what truly endear Bukowski to me.
Kurt Vonnegut: Between his incredibly funny black humour and his way to just show whats wrong with how we truly live. Vonnegut is most like me in almost every way and by far my favorite author.
Samuel Butler (as in The Notebooks Of Samuel Butler): Being the most recent person I've read he is also the least familiar with. I enjoy him for the sage-like advice he gives out and just his commentary upon society in general. He also decides to look into things more and not just willingly accept them. (I've just skimmed reading blurbs from the Notebooks)
So my fellow Escapists what other authors would I enjoy?
