The only surgery I've had was the removal of my wisdom teeth. I don't think that whole process, including the healing, could have gone any better.

Four molars removed to make space for the rest when I had a brace, many years ago.

Around the same time, suspected malignant melanoma on my back, removed under local, turned out benign.

I had a motorcycle accident in '96 that splintered my right clavicle almost through the skin. It re-broke a few weeks later after knitting together badly, so I had surgery to strap it all back together. Very very painful!

Then, almost six years ago I had another suspected malignant melanoma removed. That one was a bad one and was significantly cancerous enough to warrant another operation a couple of weeks later, which doubled the area and depth of the scar.

Then last year, just before my five years of cancer checkups were done, I had another one removed. The stitches came out ten days later and I went back to work. Later that morning whilst working on a lovely Jaguar XF, the fresh scar, which is in the lower-centre of my back at the most flexed point, split completely open. We patched it up with masking tape and went to hospital.

A week later, they did the entire operation again, putting non-dissolving stitches inside this time. It worked, but it hurts constantly now as it's always being pulled about from inside :/

And people wonder why I can take a lot of pain before complaining nowadays!!

You know what, I think may have won the thread.

My spine is partially titanium. Due to severe scoliosis, meaning that my spine was curved at about 65 degree in the middle, meant that I had to have surgery to straighten the spine out, and have titanium rods put in to keep it that way. I can no longer bend my spine at all.

Beat that.

All four wisdom teeth extracted, root canal, and I had a tumor carved out of my back. Of the three, the wisdom teeth was the worst by far.

Like just about everyone else, I had my wisdom teeth removed.

Though, I might need to have my spleen out one day, because of spherocytosis and spleenomegaly...

Well some reconstructive work on my right tibia when I was 4, don't ask how but managed to get my leg caught in some old snap lock pram braking mechanism (it was truly lethal) and the result was that it twisted my entire leg round 180 degree until my tibia broke, followed by several very long weeks in traction.

I got a skin infection that required the removal of the swear glands in my arm pits, the top layers of skin on my thighs, and a piece of skin from my nutsack. It did not feel good afterwards.

One wisdom teeth removed and fimosis, a.k.a., had to remove the skin of my dick.

That aside, I'm pretty much in one piece.

Fuck yeah captcha! You know how to live. What a lovely coincidence I'm listening to 'Dancing in September'

Oh yes! I also had to cut that thing under your tongue that serves as a break of some sorts. Ok, that's all I remember.

Appendix
Emergency Gall Bladder Removal
Emergency Kidney Stone Zapping (required 2 surgeries)
Wisdom Teeth
Root canal

Worst was the kidney stone, mostly due to the stent they put in for about a week. The stone itself was too large to pass (contrary to what they told me when I went to the ER the first time) and had intermittently bothered me for 4 months before
lodging itself in place and backing up my kidney to just about killing me.

The one in the other kidney passed a few months later, as far as I can tell. That was quite some time ago, and no problems since.

in the last 4 years my ex has had to have a kidney stone removed surgically twice... same way you did. They open up her back put something in there to grind up the stone, and suck it out... She was on so many pain meds, she even once asked me if she could kill me with a Nintendo DS and get away with it (drug induced state)... now that I think about it, maybe I should have know our marriage wouldn't last LMAO

me? I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed at one time... i puked up blood the entire day afterwards.

Hoboy. I've had around seven of those things or so. Real pain. None surgically removed though. I did have quite the expedition through the world of painkillers though, so that was "fun".

Many cosmetic surgeries because of my bilateral cleft lip and palate.

Still not done with all of them, 3 or 4 more. Pretty sure I'm already in the double digits.

My most memorable one was the time I had to have my mouth sewn shut for several weeks while only drinking liquid foods. I loved my soups and pizzas too much to do that so we'd just blend food until it could be sucked through a straw. In a way it was kind of awesome, but I don't want to relive it.

I think I lose at this one.

Assuming we mean real surgeries, and not "and then you grab a scalpel and do it to yourself/have a family member do it to you" procedures then my answer is none. At all. I even have my wisdom teeth, which just slid in without a hitch and a bit on the young side.

If we have to count the home surgery variety, then carving a relatively deep plantar wart out of my heel. Had to go light on that foot for a day or two until it stopped being too sore to put my full weight on the heel, and had a 1/4"-ish deep 1/8"-ish wide hole in my foot.

I've had my tonsils removed. I've had my extra teeth (not wisdom, I mean extra teeth underneath the baby tooth that stopped one of my adult teeth from growing. I don't think they were teeth, more like extra chunks of bone though). And soon I'll be going in to have an eye infection lopped off. What fun that will be. Hopefully the aesthetic will give me nicer dreams this time.
