We all know of the swinging axes from the ceiling and those pits made of acid. For no apparent reason games are filled with them. Some obstacles are easy to overcome, like using a vine to jump across the endless abyss, or rifle jumping across the pool of lava. Some...just get you...EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Which traps deplete your lives faster then a kid in a candy store?

For me it would have to be the platform jumping across ravines/endless abyss

But in all seriousness, timed jumping puzzles are thing that I normally hate. It can often be hard to see where your character is going to land, which results in SPLAT! INSTA-DEATH.

Bear traps or buttons on the floor.

I see the buttons on the ground but I usually think they'll open a doorway to a secret area but they only ever end up making arrows go through my skull.

The trap in Red Dead Redemption where a lady with a stagecoach ask for help and when you go there 4 bandits give you insta death with revolvers.

Other than that, I always run into the rope between two trees and you never know what happens next.

Quite often on Demon's Souls I'll fall off on the stage with the Reapers or the Valley of Defilement. Its damn hard to keep balance. Also quite well known to get me is in Resident Evil. The trip wires that explode. ARGH! It especially sucks when you run out of bullets and you go "I'll have to take the brunt" then you get to the other side and are attacked by twelve dogs. It really is quite annoying.

I'd have to go with the Mimics on this one. Every game, no matter what, I aim to open every treasure chest that I know that I can survive opening. No monster fake is going to stand in my way.

In Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, right before you first get trip mines, you are 'introduced' to them by a stormtrooper who is supposed to run out of an elevator and trigger one just past a narow doorway. Problem is, I alway kill him as he's stepping out the door. I have found absolutely no way to safely shoot that mine away from the door, seeing as it's around a blind corner. Hope you brought a Bacta tank.

A lot of traps don't actually fool me, I see them coming, load my gun/ready my spell/ready my sword and slice up my aggressors and take whatever loot they hoped to lure me with, as well as their own loot.

I imagine a trap meant to look like an obvious trap whilst hiding a less-obvious trap would probably get me.
