I played through this entire game and I have to say that it's good. But it could have been so much better. How could it have been better though? It needed to be more serious. What's this, you say? The game was all about serious. And I say "Yes, not enough though." They had some really good ideas but it had some real disappointments too. It's like they wanted to make a serious game but they decided to half-ass instead of going the full way. What do you all think?

What I think was missing is that Hyrule didn't seem 'real' enough. Like, the flashy graphics were there and it all looked great and stuff... But Kakariko village was inhabited by what, 5 people? Three of whom started off living in your home village. And Castle Town was busy and full of people, but they weren't doing anything... They were just nameless, faceless crowd members. Compare that to something like Majora's Mask, in which Clock Town was a busy place filled with loads of different characters, but they were actually individuals, with their own personalities and backstories. I think that's what was missing, personally.

It is my favorite Zelda game. Zelda is mainly about temples and bosses to me, and Twilight Princess has the best of each. Majora's Mask was an abnormal Zelda game that managed to be very good despite its lousy temples because it did have a great world, but it still falls short of Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time.

Well, they could do that in Majoras mask because they only had to worry about making enough activities happen in 3 days. Twilight Princess went on infinitely so they had less time for all the back stories or so I think. Another gripe that's not as big as my former one though it's still a large one is that some items were a one use deal pretty much. The dominion rod, for example, was almost useless outside of the Temple of Time. Lame. I did love the wrecking ball however.

I also liked the fact that every dungeon was a different experience, and no dungeons are similar to each other (unlike ocarina with Dodongos cavern and fire temple) and most of them had some very orginal gameplay ideas (such as having a dungeon inside of a abandoned mansion), but the game as a whole was far too easy, and that in my opinion that was it's biggest flaw.

Also wolf link and the twilight realm was a nice concept, but the tear collecting was tedious.

I thought Twilight Princesses bosses were way to easy to beat.
Not once did a boss bring me close to dieing. What I loved about Ocarina of Time was that it took time to finally be able to beat a boss.
It was all very satisfying back then. Maybe I've been playing to much Zelda,
They had some amazing ideas, like the boss in the water temple, but sadly that thing was laughably easy.
I really liked the new items they had though, like the spinner and the ball and chain.

Yeah, that's true. But I still think they could've done a better job of making Kakariko feel less empty, and Castle Town feel less impersonal. The Wind Waker, for example, managed this very well with Windfall Island (was that was it was called?) IMO.

what's missing? innovation (ZING!)

in all seriousness, it tried to be a dark edgy zelda while still having that light-hearted charm that zelda games are known for. it tried to please all audiences and wound up stretched too thin. i actually really enjoyed the game, but it could have been so much better if they had simply picked a direction and went with it.

Actually, what would have been cool was if you could switch between worlds like they did in mostly every link game. Once you cleared an area of twilight, though, that was it.

Also, although it may not seem like it, you are pretty overpowered in this game. For one, it takes more hits to take you down then it did in OoT. Another is the Magic armor in the game. And then there are the fairies. It's mostly because, though, that you take less damage in this game then the last. Also, your weapons and your sword techs are very powerful as well.

I think it would've been better without the creepy pedophilia subtext and the annoying supporting cast; and it would've been nice if they'd stayed the course with the "serious" angle. And if the stupid "Seek'n'find" excercises had been actual puzzles. And if the story gave you a reason to give two. And if it was fun.

The game needed originality.
It was basically ocarina of time with a bit of Okami.
For me the best zeldas are Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks because they tried to do something new and keep its essence.

Heh, Wind Waker. There are two kinds of people in this world. People who hate Windwaker and people who love it. I'm sad to say I'm in the former party.

Speaking of which, hey everyone! Remember Malo-mart?

I really enjoyed Twilight Princess, but Midna annoyed the hell out of me and I hated being the wolf, and the stupid twilight realm tear collecting... But it's graphics and art direction were great, it had some beautiful music and gorgeous scenery, and though the combat was far too easy it was fun.

I would actually like to see that. I figure Nintendo could try something different atleast once in a while (and dont go bringing up the CD-i.)

I figure you would have the light-hearted zelda on one side, and than make a more adult oriented and mature game. Have the darker elements, and show a less pleasant side. Dont go adding brothels, copius amounts of gore, and "mature content" (think Gears and/or Bulletstorm), but make it a more mentally mature story. Hell, maybe have a less "Ganondorf taking over Hyrule" story, and more... I dont really know... just the normal Zelda story line has been done to death, and the few games that dont have Gannondorf, they either have another enemy that is working with or completely taking his place, or have a somewhat original premise, the only one I can think of ATM is Majora's Mask.
