What weapon/unit/special power best gave you that warm fuzzy feeling of BLOOD LUST? Did it make you laugh manically as you obliterated your emasculated foes ? Or did you feel like some kinda special ops badass in a trenchcoat?

Mine was the wrench from bioshock. That weapon struck with the authority of a pimp slap.

Shotguns in general. There's something so satisfying about short-range, wide-spread, pump-action blasts.

I can second this, but only in single player. In most multiplayer games, they're about as effective as sneezing if your enemy is more than arms reach away.

Getting more specific, the shotgun in Black. As a matter of fact, all the weapons in Black were enormously satisfying to use. It was a military shooter on the surface, but that took a back seat to awesome explosions and ludicrous amounts of lead flying down range on top of some truly great sound assets. It was like conducting a symphony with an AK-47.

Funnily enough, I also enjoy sniper rifles in games with ballistic drop and shot travel time. Lining up that perfect shot from half the map away and just watching it arc perfectly into your target is a feeling I never get tired of. Granted, I had to fire 4 shots to make the necessary adjustments, but no one is perfect.

Pretty much any weapon from Killing Floor. The impaler shotgun and revolver in particular. Tripwire knows how to craft some satisfying gunplay.

Power Fist in New Vegas/Fallout 3 is pretty satisfying...also knuckles and, bare fists in general honestly. Add in the Bloody Mess perk and, some reinforced leather armor and you're playing 1st-person Fist of the North Star.

To follow on with what the guys above said; the weapons in Black were just awesome in general. More games should focus on destructible terrain like that as it makes the weapons seem...ya know...actually powerful.

Black's shotgun was particularly satisfying. I loved blowing doors open with it. For some reason you don't get to do this more often in games.

I'm going to go with the Katana in the new Shadow Warrior game. The weapon was just awesome slicing the enemies into bloody pieces and it had special moves too, throw in a one liner from Lo Wang from time to time and you have a great weapon. I did like some of the others in the game but the Katana was just awesome, and mine had a serrated back like the one in the original Shadow Warrior because I got the GoG version, even more over the top.

Besides Hulk's fist in Ultimate Destruction... and the keyblade in any Kingdom Hearts game... (especially in 2's too-easy-of-a Proud difficulty... Yeah, I'm looking at you, Sethy...)

I'm have to go with the Vulcan Fury from Jak 2... and usually whenever I use it, I think of that one song from Ludacris called "Move *****"...

Yeah... Quite satisfying indeed...

Pretty much any gun from the Dead Space series.

Contact Beam: Beastly look? Check! Charge up to blow enemies to smithereens? Check!

Javelin Gun: Spear Enemies to walls? Check! Electrocute said enemies that are pinned to the wall? Check! Blow up said enemies that you just stuck to the wall and electrocuted? Hey now that's just plain not fair!

Line Gun: Or the giant de-limb-inator, leave your enemies legless and helpless while you finish them off!

Every gun (and the dismemberment system) is just so very very rewarding.

Oh yeah, definitely.
I recently picked up Brutal Doom, and I just adore the shotgun you get. It's somehow better than the original, probably due to to how beautifully enemies gib now.

Weapons that do high damage to a group of enemies.

Shotguns, grenades, running cars into things, ect.

Probably just my cheap nature and refusal to waste ammo.

Speaking of shotguns; I haven't yet met one that matches Half Life 2's shotgun in terms of sheer BOOM DEAD. It's a shame that Left 4 Dead's don't quite match up.

As people before me said shotguns are always fun. I also did very much did enjoy the knife kills in Far Cry 3. Between regular stabbing, leaping from person to person stabbing, stabbing then shooting, stabbing then throwing a knife at someone to stab them from far away, dropping down from above and stabbing, and jumping up from below and stabbing. I think that covered all the possible ways you can use the knife in that game.

EDIT: I forgot the stab and pull the pin out on the person's grenade and the regular hack and slash.

Also Batman's fists in the Arkham games were wonderful.

In general, I love sniper rifles. There's nothing more satisfying than taking a quick, precise kill to make the enemy panic and force them to abandon their defenses for shelter. I also enjoy bare fists/brass knuckles because hand-to-hand combat is always fun.

To be more specific, the Contact Beam from Dead Space 2 is by far my most favorite weapon in the game; I enjoy using a Keyblade in the Kingdom Hearts series because of the many ways you can customize it or how it looks with each new keychain; I also like the Umbra Knuckles in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn as they allow Sveta to become a total bada** and dominate the fight; finally, the Deadeye from Resistance 3 is probably my favorite weapon in the entire game, easily killing some of the strongest enemies in the game in a few shots.

Ooooh, that lovely thudda-thudda-thudda of the Pulse Rifle in Half Life 2 is just amazing. I wish all weapons sounded like that.. I'm also partial to the greatswords in Dark Souls, especially in PvP. When you land a strong attack when using the Black Knight Sword or Greatsword the enemy will know it. Not totally practical most of the time, but still awesome.

I also enjoy pretty much all of the weapons in Killing Floor. Great sound design seems to be at the core of the most satisfying weapons in gaming. There are also some abilities in League that just hit that spot. Malphite's ultimate for one, also Ashe's giant arrow.

I'm going to break the mold a bit and move outside the shooter genres. Of all the weapons I've used in all the games I've played, nothing got me giddy with excitement quite like hearing three little words:

"Ion cannon ready."

Bolt action rifles in the Red Orchestra games, especially the Arisakas in Rising Storm.
Not only do they look and sound great and not only does a solid body shot drop an enemy instantly, but they're also compared to guns in a lot of other games kind of a ***** to use. No super-ultimate-no-fun-instant-laser-beam-hitscan bullcrap here, you'll have to account for the sway and distance and line up your shot juuuuust right to ensure that perfect hit, and when it hits its awesome.

The Serious Sam double barrel shotgun

Any gun in Call Of Juarez Gunslinger (its mostly because of the way enemies die with a shtiload of blood splattered all over)

The shotgun in Blood Dragon

Both the shotgun and the sniper (if you headshot) in Gears of War
