For me,this year has been an incredible year of self discovery. i have solidified many of my beliefs and outlooks of life.
My question to you is, when was the year that you feel, you ''grew up''? My year is 2011, and i am 17.
This is the closest in life that i have ever felt as a level up.

There are 3 possibilities. It is either 2006, 2007(though probably not), or 2011. I really don't feel like looking back at it that closely to find out which. I wouldn't exactly want to relive them.

2010-2011.

Oh man, my logic boosted +1,000. Discovering that people around me are very idiotic.

That's why I like being on The Escapist, i'm surrounded by like-minded people.

The year when I grew up the most was certainly 2010. After my dad passed away, it made me look at my life a bit differently. I looked at my priorities, college, my friends... and started to realize where everything in my life stood. One "Important Haircut" and several long hours of introspection later, I had started down a new path in my life. In some ways, it was one of the harder years of my life- but it's gotten me to a point where I'm happier than I have been in a great while.

2003, the year I matured to young. I was seven and I had to have brain surgery and it made me view life differently and appreciate each day.

Can I say sophomore year, or late 08-09.

I don't know, before that year I didn't really care for social interactions. Or Music or art and I didn't really think about things like politics and I didn't really develop opinions.

Either 1999 when I graduated high school and moved out on my own for the first time... or 2004, when I finished my initial entry training in the US Army and left the US for the first time. No idea which of those was more life-changing and chock full of self-discovery.
...I do know that I feel old looking at some of the years in this thread...

2008. It's when I went from an incredibly shy, introverted shut-in to someone who actually has friends and a social life. That's also when I solidified my interests and decided what I wanted to do as a career. I am by no means done growing, but that year held the biggest changes.

2011, became 21 at the beginning of this year and this has been the first year where I've started gaining real responsibilities and enjoying adult life now that I can. A lot of great things have happened and a lot of bad things too but it has been by far the most interesting year I've ever experienced so far.

Last summer. I started realizing who my true friends were. I also started growing out of my shell more and started being me. I used to have a very negative and simplistic view on the world and now things are better.

2009, that was one bloody hell of a year. All started with January, which is when just about everything bad that could have happened to me did. And I mean getting kicked out of my dad's apartment, having a mentor die from meningitis, walking around with a heavy cast on my right ankle for a month and having to do 5 projects in as many days, while still going to school. Looking back, I don't know how I didn't put a bullet in my brain, but I changed like crazy. That much depressing stuff happening all at once changes anyone.

It was necessary, though. I was already in a bad spot and shit needed to change. Definitely came out the better for it.

2009. It was the year my mother passed away. I was 21 but I wasn't ready for something like that (not that anyone ever really is I suppose.) It made me realize...shit I need to be an adult now. Oddly enough, I was already more mature than most people that age.

I haven't grown up. I'm gonna stay young forever!!!

Seriously though, probably when my Dad lost his job. That was right around the time when I was 14 and realized, unlike the majority of my High School Classmates, I'm in the majority of middle class Americans and I won't have my parents to lean on for unlimited monies until I have a generic White Collar job.

2014. It was the year I successfully carried out my plan for world domination.
Can't wait

OT: 2011, this summer to be exact. I learned a lot when I went on a mission trip for my church

Around when I turned thirteen (not going to do the math), I grew both physically and mentally. I really toughened out and began standing up for myself.

This year a bit emotionally, because I cheered up and got a better outlook on life.
