Google, in its quest to create its own version of everything, has put out Google Chrome the beta. It's a web browser that looks pretty nifty. I'm using mozilla, but lately it's just not doing it for me. Random crashes, firefox not responding, etc. I'd like to know what web browser the escapist community prefers, and whether or not anyone has tried chrome yet.

*sigh*

imagine, I thought I could go into a thread about web browsers and it NOT be another Chrome thread.

I use firefox. Until I hear good things about chrome, I won't change. took me years to change to firefox

I'm sticking with my small, user-friendly, happy little slimbrowser. I tried the firefox, it was alright but I couldn't see what everyone was freaking jumping and fainting for. It was...a web browser?

I'm almost scared to try the new one. I've noticed that newer browsers, or those loaded with SUPER AWSOME EXTRA FEATURES BAYBEE usually end up crashing all over my computer; Firefox had issues with compatibility on about half of the forums I work with/post in on a weekly basis.

Mozilla users reported about the same number of problems on my forums; I never had any of those issues with slimbrowser. But I'll be watching with interest other people's reactions.

I jumped on Firefox pretty quickly, though I have all the standards like Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Safari, etc.

I'm not interested in Chrome, and won't use it until it's clinically proven to be the best thing ever, or at the very least worth the switch.

Firefox 3, yup yup. I've been using Firefox for quite a while now-- and I'm pretty set in my ways. A browser would have to seriously "wow" me to make me switch from my delightful Acid Burn theme.

Firefox 3 here, but also playing around with Chrome. The programmer inside me gets a pseudo-woody with some of the features on Chrome (independent processes for each tab, completely new Java VM, a nice API for making plug-ins, etc etc), but it still had a few little graphical changes I wouldn't mind making.

I use Internet Explorer. It works fine, I never saw why Firefox was considered so much better. Maybe someone could explain that to me.

The reason I switched was tabbed browsing. I know there's a version of Explorer that features it, but I'm happy with Firefox.

And I use that version. So yeah, Firefox seems so superior.

I'm not going to switch between products every time a company gets a small leg up on the competition. I only change or upgrade if it's completely necessary and in my opinion worth it, or if what I'm currently using becomes unbearable.

I don't use Firefox over Explorer, (or to lesser extent PC over a Mac) because it's "superior" or I have a particular loyalty to that company. I use it because it works and satisfies my needs.
