Oh my, it's been a long time since I've been to these forums, and it's time to get back to it! On beforehand, I am sorry for any formatting errors I make. It's been a while.

Inspired by the Reddit thread over at r/Fallout, I decided to create a thread here, wondering about how a Fallout game would be like in your local areas. Knowing that The Escapist has users all over the globe, I found something like that fitting for this forum.

I've chosen to go with the same rules as in the Reddit thread, which are as follows:

/u/edru said:
Let's play a game. Name your city, three to five places in that city, and then say what they would be called and who would be there in the Fallout universe. If you see your city already listed, place a comment to that comment and name another 3 to 5 places.
To make stuff look pretty, tidy and easily overviewed, I suggest that people use a template similar to something like this:

Place name: Place name
(Optional) Alternate name(s) Alt. name(s)
General description of the area: Description
Area 1: Description
Area 2: Description
Area 3: Description
Up to 5 different areas per user.
I also suggest using Spoiler tags to keep posts from being walls of text.

To start things off, I'll begin with mine (Which is shamelessly copied from my Reddit post).

Since I'm from Norway, and it's quite a small country both size-wise and population-wise, I'm not going for a single city, but an entire region.

Place name: North-western Norway ( Map of the chosen area )
Alternate name(s): The West Cape, New Bergen, The Frozen Fjords

General description of the area:
Norway wasn't struck by the total nuclear annihilation in particular, except for the nation's capital; Oslo. Therefore, the Western parts of the country didn't suffer direct effects from nuclear detonations, but rather suffered long-term effects from radiation due to the UK and Oslo being targeted. This resulted in Western Norway being 'sandwiched' between two nuclear impact zones. The effects of this can be seen in the wildlife and climate: Radiation has hideously mutated animals native to Norway, like wolves, wolverines, lynx and even bears (Who have drastically increased in numbers due to 200 years of undisturbed solitude from humans). The climate can remind one of Skyrim due to atomic winter in the northern areas of the world, and Norway has been severely impacted by that.
A mix between mountainous and rough terrains to huge, snow-covered glacial areas, long and wide fjords, both frozen over and with broken-up icy areas. The climate varies from moist and autumn-like in the west, and a cold winter climate in the inner, eastern part of the area. There are also two major cities serving as trade capitals of Western Norway in the North and South respectively; ?lesund and Bergen.

Area 1: The West Cape and North Areas.
The West Cape is the northernmost part of the 'map', where the westernmost point in Norway lies, hence the name.
Small villages and settlements are spread out, and the terrain is mountainous and rough, with snow and ice being most prominent in the eastern parts of the map. The area's inhabitants consist mostly of hunters and such, making the Hunting Rifle a weapon of choice in these parts.
The capital of the North is ?lesund (Picture). A trader city facing the North Sea. Unimpacted by direct nuclear hits, many of the city's buildings still stand. A beauty in an otherwise apocalyptic world.

Area 2: The Frozen Fjords. (Picture from Skyrim which accurately depicts how the fjords and coast look)
The Frozen Fjords consists of a lot of small fishing villages, small settlements and stunning landscapes, with fjords and steep mountains in unison. The fjords have mostly frozen over due to atomic winter, but the outer parts of the fjord haven't frozen entirely over, but there are a lot of sheets of ice along the fjord.
This area is mostly inhabited by fishermen and farmers, as well as raiders and hideously mutated wildlife.

Area 3: New Bergen, the capital of Western Norway.
New Bergen is the capital of post-apocalyptic Western Norway, lying in the city of Bergen all the way south.
The old buildings the city is known for still stand, like Bryggen in Bergen and Bergenshus Fortress.
These two places are the biggest trading posts in the trading capital of Western Norway.
In this area of the map you can find mostly traders, whilst there are an abundance of lowlife criminals in the outskirts of the city. If you travel a bit north or east for Bergen, you'll find Raider establishments and Scavengers, and it's usually dominated by a hostile, 'shoot first, ask questions later' attitude.

That was my Fallout 'area'. What's yours?

Without getting into the specifics, I live in a small township on the Appalachian Mountains. One might think that would save us from the nuclear apocalypse, but we happen to be on top of one of the mountain bunkers put together for politicians in case of nuclear war. A real life Vault, without all the wonky experiments.

So I imagine there wouldn't be much left after the inevitable barrage of bunker busters and nuclear warheads deployed to clear out the area. So I guess...

Place name: Town On Top of Bunker
Alternate name(s): Appalachian Mountains
General description of the area (Pre-Bombs): Mountainous Forrest Region
General description of the area (Post-Bombs): Hellish landscape devoid of all life
