What would you do about the WBC?

Now as people of the internet we are inevitably subject to something we geneally either dont understand or hate.

One of the most unaminous of theese things so far has been the Westboro Baptist Church.

So, given a position of total authority to do anything you want, what would you do about them?

Me:
I would make sure none of thier members can earn a decent living. Enough to survive, and continue protests if theyre that committed to it, but much, much worse off than if they were not a part of the group.

That was me, now, what about you?

They may feed off of attention but that doesnt mean that you have to be direct about it.

Something i may have missed out is that they dont have to be aware of it.

Treat them exactly the same as any other member of society...

Why? Because freedom of speech and expression apply to everyone, regardless of what they are saying.

Personally, they have a right to their opinions. Problem is, they're taking it to the extreme.

Pretty much nothing. Thus far they have been insanely obnoxious, but If I get the right to harm those I find obnoxious, the global population would be down to a tiny fraction what it is now.

Best thing to do is ignore them. These are the type of creatures that feed off of attention. If you dont feed into them, they starve to death

Ignore them when they obey the law, jail them when they don't. Many of their stunts have been actually criminal, and it's bull they hide behind free speech when actually harassing or physically involving themselves with their victims.

I think if the law actually stood up against them when they crossed the line, they'd disappear right quick.

Pass laws that define unwanted assembly and protest at funerals as harassment and, as such, a violation of the law, regardless of Free Speech.

You have the right to believe and say whatever you want in this country. You are not allowed to chant hateful slogans with the intent of mentally assaulting people, especially those who are grieving.

More than just ignore them, I'd write to a huge number of news organisations and get them to sign a document stating they won't report on anything the WBC do, unless it involves serious criminal activity.

That way we can jail them, or they'll die out from no publicity.

They are bat shit crazy. Anyone who saw the Louis theroux documentary will know they plan to head over to the middle east (Israel I think) I'm not being funny but If they do they will be meeting god a bit sooner than planned that's fo' sure

Once when they were protesting at a school near mine, a bunch of students got together and formed an even bigger protest against them right across from where they were protesting. We were shouting things about love and tolerance and just really sappy things, it worked though because we got them to back off.

They really are just trolls. I think I recall them saying why they did what they did. They said that they're trying to give people a negative perception of god, stop beleiving in him, and then go to hell.

Well I'd do what any great politician does, say one thing and do another, I'd say "herp-a-derp they have their right to voice their opinion" but behind the scenes I'd have sniper units positioned around all houses containing a WBC member, then order a shoot to kill, except for the kids and maybe those hot WBC girls.
